The Hallam FC will be celebrating 150 years during the 2010-2011.

An updated edition of the history of the club will be published.

This club is not only an important part of the history of Sheffield but to the football world history worldwide.

It is important that every bit of knowledge, event records, ephemera and pictures are recorded for posterity so that future generations can be proud of our city and the history of local football.

Anyone who has any pictures, memorabilia and is willing to allow me to photograph them please contact me, by sending a PM to PopT.

Thanking you PopT

depends what rules of football you are talking about, various universities are still playing on pitches going back way before hallam fc.seems to me hallam are jumping on the sheffield f.c.success as dubiously being called the oldest club.again old universities and public schools have still got their teams.and they were playing their football way before any one else.please make sure you say which rules of football you are talking about when claiming the oldest.

Bramall Lane also has the honour of being the venue for the first soccer game played under floodlighting.

I presume we are talking about the rules that were written in sheffield at a public house in heeley. The rules that form the basis of todays proffesional game.

i thought we were talking about something called football no matter what rules that it was played under.over the years rules have changed many times do we say it is the oldest since the last change or which change.the rules laid down in sheffield were not used worlwide.

Which club are you stating as the oldest, and which rules as the originals. It is OK to question but not without some answers from yourself.

By the way black is not white, unless you can prove otherwise.

The Football Association Laws of 1863 regulated the game in and around London but in the provinces clubs continued to follow their local rules for some time. The most important of these regional variants was at Sheffield. It was not until 1877 that Sheffield adopted the FA Laws which, at the same time, absorbed certain clauses from the Sheffield code.

There are some similarities in the formation of the Sheffield club, the oldest club in the world, and Notts County, the oldest Football League club. Both began with impromptu, informal kickabouts by a group of young men of the professional class and only after a couple of years was the club formally founded. Sheffield was formed on October 24, 1857, after informal play since 1855, and Notts County on December 7, 1864 after informal play since 1862. The two clubs first met in the 1864-65 season, the first important match on record played by a current member of the Football League.
