neeeeeeeeeek
I have an area roughly 6m2 and I want to put a good layer of topsail down and turf it. Any ideas how much I will need? It's part of my back yard so is old tarmac with plants and stuff growing though it. Cheers
Jabberwocky
Sounds like a hell of a job there, youre intending to leave the tarmac in place? If thats the case, Id go for at least a 6 inch layer, and even THEN it`ll settle and sink after a while. Id go for a couple of tons and see how you go with it, then get more if neccessary. neeeeeeeeeek
Have joined some railway sleepers together to create a bit of a wall and piled loads of bricks down to get rid of them (a single layer) which shoul dhelp drainage. also going to stick some material down before the top soil so it does not all was away. I was expecting lots more soil to be needed but don't honestly know, 2 ton would be better for me as less work!!
Knoxville
A tonne of dry soil is approximately 1 cubic metre so this would be enough to do a layer about 15cm deep
neeeeeeeeeek
I put 5tonnes down, another one would have been good but sure 5 will do.
