chefkicker
Sorry for incredible stupid question but does kickboxing allow kicks below the waist and knees to body? Yes it does under oriental rules . Under American rules (also known as Full Contact , what used to be called Full contact karate in the 1970's) kicks must be above the belt and knees are not allowed. Thankfully most bouts will be oriental rules.
honestjoe69
Is American Kickboxing going out of fashion and Oriental kickboxing becoming the more popular then?
chefkicker
Is American Kickboxing going out of fashion and Oriental kickboxing becoming the more popular then? Well Oriental rules is a lot harder, generally fighters who fight oriental rules tend to be better conditioned. American rules fighters tend to have decent hands but weak kicking as many of them are taught by instructors from a karate/kung fu/ taekwondo background. American style kickboxing tends to be boxing hands with taekwondo kicks. Oriental rules kickboxing is becoming more popular mainly due to the K-1 tournament.
