104 Franklin St

Hi All, This maybe a waste of time but I need to try as I’m struggling to find any details.

My mum before she died had completed her family tree and had just started on my dads side.

All I’ve got is his dads name, DOB, who he married and his grandfathers name with an address 104 Franklin St.

My dads name was Denis Merrill, Born 16/9/1928.

His dad was Arthur Merrill , Born23/4/1857

and his dad was called William Merrill.

Arthur married Lily Warris.

Any info would be greatly appreciated though I expect a long shot.

Just checked the address of  104 Franklin Street Sheffield in the 1921 Census on the findmypast site and for free it records that an Arthur and a Lily are living there.  Pay per View to see the actual records at this time I'm afraid.

 

Also Kelly's Directory of Sheffield & Rotherham 1957 has an Arthur MERRILL living at 76 Cater Road, Sheffield 8 - which is a possibility.

That’s interesting! I seem to remember that my grandma Lily lived on Cat Lane or something similar and that’s where she lived till she died??

Thanks all for the info., really appreciate it. I’m going to sign up with a heritage site.  I have to admit Im just finding my way. I’ll have a look at the census  etc as that will also give occupational info.

That’s ok.All this is pretty daunting.

My mothers side of the family was massive!

Dads should be easier. He had a brother called Leslie who married Mary( she work the trams as a clippy). All of them gone now sadly.

Beatrice MERRILL / Daughter / Single / age 11 / / from Sheffield, WRY

Florence MERRILL / Daughter / Single / age 6 / / from Sheffield, WRY

Arthur MERRILL / Son / Single / age 3 / / from Sheffield, WRY

Here is Arthur's birth registration based on his date of birth, there is only one result for the West Riding of Yorkshire:

If you check out the births from the marriage date of 1885 on the GRO site for the registration district of Ecclesall Bierlow you will find more children belonging to the marriage with the mother's maiden surname of HALLAM.
