Albert smith   11 #97 Posted January 20, 2018 (edited) When the West Indians first started to arrive in Sheffield around 1960 many of the local so called hard men would roam around Town showing these new comers just how hard they were . Some of those hard men have been mentioned on this forum and the surprising thing is that now due to the intermediate years of working together , as well as boxing ,football and other sports clubs the two community's are now closer than they have ever been .  The integration is now complete between the two races due to this close interest and also a shared religious back ground.  This integration has also been noticeable with the Chinese and Irish immigrants but has been sadly not been so noticeable from the Pakistani , Somali and Arab arrivals among us , the reason for this may be religion ,dress or a belief that our system needs changing to suite a different way of life ,who knows? what the answer is.
