I think it's a reasonable point, probably not made in the best way though. At the end of the day the NHS is skint and losing expensive equipment like this in this way won't do it any favours.

 

Maybe a donation to the department concerned would be a nice gesture.

It's a sensible question, is it not? Yes by all means we should help but assuming the device can't be located, who should foot the bill? That isn't a criticism.
