hi can anyone help after old pictures of houses on gower street 1940s

old relative wants to relive her past can anyone help. thanks.

There are some old photos of Gower Street on the picturesheffield.com site - here is a link to one of them, showing the Co-Op on the corner of Gower Street and Grimesthorpe Road. Here is a clearer view (part of Burngreave Library can just be seen at the right-hand side).

My dad's cousin, Vera Grayson, used to have a tobacconist's shop on Gower Street in the 1940s-50s.

My dad's cousin, Vera Grayson, used to have a tobacconist's shop on Gower Street in the 1940s-50s.

 

Up to the 1970s Gower Street was very populous with small businesses stretching from Burngreave Road to Carlisle Street.
