SlipDigby   10 #1 Posted August 8, 2013 I was informed by my local garage (Thorncliffe) that they couldn't do the work on my car as I needed to take it to a gearbox specialist.  Can anyone recommend one or at least point me in the direction of one who isn't going to take me for a ride? SlipDigby   10 #5 Posted August 8, 2013 Thanks guys. I found M&T on google and was going to give them a call but wanted to see if anyone had experience of using anyone...  It's a Nissan X Trail - manual gearbox. It started popping out of gear in 5th gear the other day so wanted to get it checked out without someone trying to pull the wool... surveyour   10 #6 Posted August 8, 2013 Hi, if it does need a gearbox repair, would it be cheaper to just pick up a secound had manual gearbox? most have a limited warranty etc.  Theres afew on ebay around £400, You might get one for less if someones breaking a car privatley (as appose to a breaker yard) but then you wont have any warranty I guess.  Goodluck with it, hope its not too bad. imi123 Â Â 10 #9 Posted August 12, 2013 Hi, give sheffield gearboxes a ring, its probably the teeth on the 5th gear, which may have damage.
 Share this content via...
