Pilon   10 #1 Posted June 12, 2013 On a PC, Windows 7, web pages fail to load in any browser.  Have reset the router, restarted the PC and emptied the cache.  Using home plugs, appear to be functioning fine. All other computers in the house connect fine.  Task bar icon indicates I'm connected to the Internet, pages simply won't load. Occasionally they DO load, only to stop loading part way through, as though I'm getting a 'dribble' of data.  Thoughts?
 Share this content via...
megalithic   10 #2 Posted June 12, 2013 Have you tried a system restore to the point before this started ?  An alternative would be to un-install the card then re-install it.
 Share this content via...
dosxuk   10 #3 Posted June 12, 2013 Open command prompt ([start] > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt) then type:   tracert http://www.google.com[enter]  copy and paste the results here (you can do this by right clicking the window, selecting mark, then dragging a box over the results and then pressing [Enter])
 Share this content via...
Pilon   10 #4 Posted June 12, 2013 Tried system restore - no change.  You mean my network card? As in the drivers? How do I go about that?  For what it's worth, this happened mid-browsing. Had Facebook, Youtube and a couple of other sites I use regularly (so nothing dodgy!) open - just started happening out of the blue.  It's now coming back for a minute or so at a time, then cuts out again. All the time it says I have a connection.  ---------- Post added 12-06-2013 at 22:32 ----------  Here we go...  Tracing route to http://www.google.com [173.194.67.106] over a maximum of 30 hops:  1 10 ms 99 ms 99 ms bebox.config [192.168.1.254] 2 * * * Request timed out. 3 17 ms 19 ms 18 ms 10.1.3.245 4 30 ms 27 ms 48 ms 10.1.2.169 5 * * 34 ms 10.1.4.253 6 * * * Request timed out. 7 25 ms 25 ms 48 ms 209.85.252.188 8 23 ms 22 ms 26 ms 209.85.253.196 9 57 ms 35 ms 29 ms 66.249.95.173 10 34 ms 156 ms 29 ms 209.85.250.167 11 * * * Request timed out. 12 61 ms 36 ms 38 ms wi-in-f106.1e100.net [173.194.67.106]  Trace complete. Pilon   10 #7 Posted June 12, 2013 I'm using home plugs. Have been using them for this machine in this house for almost a year, with no problems.  OK - fair enough. I meant I wasn't streaming porn or torrenting...
 Share this content via...
dosxuk   10 #8 Posted June 12, 2013 Can you get access to the connection logs on your router?  Your computer will often still report a connection to the internet even if your router is disconnected from the internet, because it's still got an open connection to the router and it doesn't continuously check for onward connectability.  I would suspect the router <-> ISP connection rather than a problem with your PC.  Next time it completely stops working, re-run the tracert and see if it completes successfully again.
