Washing machines

Does anyone know how to clean the rubber seal on the inside of a washing machine? There seems to be a scum or something on the inside of the rubber. Someone suggested using soda crystals but i have not been able to find any. Any suggestions anyone?

soda can be bought in any supermarket in crystal or granual form, very cheap and can be used for cleaning and stain removal, its even effective held on a cut or scratch but stings a bit lol, mix it in water and mop floors or less water to make a paste for smaller cleaning, you could actually pour a bottle of white vinegar in the drawer and run the machine empty, the vinegar will fluch thru and help with limescale and scum build up, it wont erode the rubber either as it,ll be diluted whilst the cycle is running

hope this helps
