Article in today's Star, Sheffield based Farrar's funfairs have just donated almost £4000 to St Lukes hospice, profits from the Sheffield Christmas funfair that they provided.

Well done to the Percival family who own the company today that was started by Enoch Farrar in 1876.

Please remember Farrar's funfair is operated by travelling Showmen and do not confuse them with other types of travellers who would rather pinch the lead off the roof at St. Lukes than give them a donation.

I agree you shouldnt confuse travelling showmen (who work hard and pay thier taxes) with gypsies.

I'm glad they have given that money its a worthwile cause. My friend Jackie was in St Lukes a lot before she died. She spoke very highly of St Lukes.

Thank you Farrar's:love:

When Farrar's massive new Funfair arrives on Granville Road next week, hope the locals wil be aware of the above, who no doubt will be thinking the Gypsies have arrived on their door step.

Showmen are business men who carry on a family tradition and many today are fifth generation and more.

All the rides are tested regually for safety and the vechicles etc are all taxed and insured.

They will be unaware that Farrar's have paid a substancial ammount of rent to the owners of the land for use of the fair (many will think they have just turned up) and have a written contract saying when they can arrive and when they must depart (normally within 2 days of the fair finishing) and they will not leave the site in a mess , as this would prevent them from using it again.

Further information is availble @ http://www.farrarsfunfairs.com.
