How to bump start an automatic car

Recommended Posts

Even if you could bump start an automatic, it could possibly cause lasting damage to the cat converter in the exhaust by pumping unburnt petrol into it I believe.

Some automatics don't have catalytic converter exhausts but whatever they have to do with with bump starting an engine with an automatic gearbox is beyond me?

You simply can't do it.

All petrol cars built on and after 1993 have cats on the exhausts.

Some diesels do too but only a small percentage.
