kirstenswift   10 #13 Posted October 22, 2009 WOW thank you so much, my dad always said he had an aunt Violet but I couldn't find her. My grandmother Alice was born in 1916 in Cleethorpes as Percy was a sapper, cutter journeyman. I had only found Ivy Maud (and George being her twin) as she was a witness when Alice got married.  Here is a list of all children born Stanley with mothers maiden name Cooper should that be the correect marriage. Name Year born Quarter Area Violet 1914 June Sheffield George 1920 Mar Ecclesall Bierlow Ivy M 1920 Mar Ecclesall Bierlow Percy 1922 Dec Sheffield Colin 1924 Dec Sheffield Irene M 1926 Sept Sheffield Lily 1928 Sept Sheffield Kenneth 1930 June Sheffield Joyce 1935 Dec Sheffield   If you find that the marriage to Fanny Cooper is the correct one it would be worth checking these out at the local Archives.  Martin
 Share this content via...
kirstenswift   10 #14 Posted October 22, 2009 If only Robert Winstanley got his act together when he registered my great grandfather and gave him his proper name of Winstanley and not Stanley!  There are a lot of Stanleys out there with the wrong surname.  It all adds to the confusion.  Families are great, even better when sober.
