53 - Ecclesfield - Low Edges/Bradway

Recommended Posts

In my eyes, theres not a problem. I used to catch the 53 daily 2 years ago (from Meadowhead-Ecclesfield) and use it regularily when I come back to Sheffield. Its very rare that I'm delayed on it, much less than on the 17 or the 77.

Change the frequency to every 30 minutes to be more accurate? How does that work? There will still be the same unpredictability of times owing to unplanned delays, just you'll have 33% of the capacity on the route.

Revise the timetable to allow 10 minutes more through Woodseats? Again, good in theory but this then means that at off-peak or shoulder-peak periods, the bus might have to stop at the side of the road for 15 minutes when it could be going into town. That would be frustrating to say the least.

And finally, for those who don't understand the phonomenen bus bunching, it is not a Sheffield specific problem.

There was a problem at 8.50am this morning at Wadsley Bridge having been waiting 30 minutes for a 53 bus to Ecclesfield.

It was New Years Eve the roads were pretty clear according to BBC Radio Sheffield so whats the excuse this time First?

It was advertised as a Saturday service that is a frequency of every 20 minutes.

Appalling service.

Anyway off out.
