  1. Harold Siddall brother of Annie Siddall Son of George Henry Siddall and Annie Freeman.
  2. Banners and Hitchens at Attercliffe. Hitchens still there I think.
  3. It really gets me mad as a North Sheffielder seeing busloads of kids travelling at 7.45 to get to their posh school across the city. There are plenty of decent schools locally for yuppies to send their little darlings too. (Ecclesfield?) Its not the school. At the end of the day its up to the student. As has been pointed out by several other posters students do attain great grades and further ed at schools with a 'poor' reputation. (Chaucer, Parkwood, Firth Park etc.) I for one am more proud of kids living in the real world and roughing it at their local comp than being driven across the city to attend a fake private school with a few jumped up bigwigs that pushes up its reputation. Its not all about A-C GCSE's in life and A-Level media studies! Its about being able to survive in the big world without mummy and daddy and their Mondeo. Can the likes of Silverdale kids over Chaucer?! They (South West Sheffield pupils) wouldn't survive 5 minutes on the Cross.
  4. I like Plain Talkers idea! That would be quality. Oh and to see the owners reaction on returning to their vehicle! You just know what the reaction would be. "Well I didn't notice the yellow lines."
  5. The Metrolink tramcars aren't as big as the Sheffield trams or as comfortable. They run on old rail lines on parts of the system and it shows. They are extremely noisy, shakey and uncomfortable.
  6. Stanley St is a road that goes off Wicker near the pharmacy. Now the inner relief road has opened, the 53 bus service from Lowedges - City - Ecclesfield has started to use the road again. The road is quite narrow so there are double yellow lines on both sides of the road near the junction with Wicker to stop vehicles from blocking the entrance and the turning circle of buses. However cars and white vans are consistently flouting these double yellows making it difficult and sometimes impossible for wider vehicles like 53 buses from acessing the road. This adds to already long and frustrating delays on the 53 service and causes tailbacks on Wicker as the 53 is stuck until the selfish driver returns to their vehicle and moves.
  7. A pube..really? How did a pubic hair end up on your fries?
  8. Worst - 53 Ecclesfield - Lowedges/Bradway. 77 High Green/Chapeltown - Sheffield Interchange Best (in my experience) 20/20A Hillsborough Interchange - City - Hemsworth 53 consistently late. Spent many cold evenings approx 6.30pm in the city centre after a long hard days work waiting for a 53 back to Ecclesfield. Used to commute daily on the 77 from Sheff Wed to Chapeltown at about 7.30am. At least 2 mornings each week it would turn up very late
  9. Barclay ever heard of the phrase the customer is always right? After all they do pay towards your wage. Im sure a Polish immigrant would be more than willing to take your job anyway.
  10. Incident happened today on Leopold Street bus stop outside Zavvi. I was waiting for an 82 to Bents Green along with 2 elderly, infirm members of the public. However two Stagecoach buses (83 & 88 I think) were just parked in the bus stop for several minutes blocking vision of other buses coming down Leopold St and making access to them if they were stopped very difficult. One of the elderly ladies did manage to stop a Powells 82, She had to go into the middle of the road to do so in front of the parked 83. Very dangerous. I waited for a First 82 which I did see coming several minutes later. The other elderly lady started panicking thinking she wouldnt get that bus. I being fully fit and younger ran to the back of the parked Stagecoach buses to flag down the First 82. The disabled elderly lady had to limp approximately 20 metres to get access to the First Bus all because of the parked Stagecoaches. If I wasn't there she wouldnt have got the bus. Are Stagecoach buses allowed to just sit in the bus stops for several minutes (with engines running of course)? They are a hazard to pedestrians at bus stops and they contribute to environmental pollution just sat with their engines running.
  11. There was a problem at 8.50am this morning at Wadsley Bridge having been waiting 30 minutes for a 53 bus to Ecclesfield. It was New Years Eve the roads were pretty clear according to BBC Radio Sheffield so whats the excuse this time First? It was advertised as a Saturday service that is a frequency of every 20 minutes. Appalling service. Anyway off out.
  12. What annoyed me last week was at the supermarket. Some people stocking up with supplies of milk and bread as if it was a nuclear holocaust ala Threads. Its the same every year.
  13. Fair enough then. Then re-advertise the service as twice an hour or let another operator deliver the goods.
  14. Yet he is a member of the Catholic church?
