  2. Looks like the Bus changes in Sheffield have just been made to keep buses away from the Main Bus Station,is this because they know they are going to demolish it and put either some more Student Appartments or something else there,Why?wouldn"t the Council admit this is why the bus changes were made,as i was there last night and instead of seeing people waiting for buses it was very empty indeed

    What time were you there?

  3. Im Suprised it stopped open as long as it did...it used be the best pub in Firth park at one time when Nigel was the landlord.no pubs in Firth park left now just the Idsworth club and lane top club for a drink....

list of pubs clubs gone in the Firthpark area

    Horseshoe

    Pheasant

    Huntsman

    Shiregreen hotel

    Magnet

    Firth park hotel

    Sicey hotel

    Basset

    Foundry

Loads in the area I cant rember...

Where do you get your info. The Basset is still open and neither that or the Magnet are anywhere near Firth Park. As for the rest apart from the Pheasant, it's good riddance to bad rubbish. Are you sure you're not confusing the Bassett with the Beagle

  4. Well it's proving hard to get back to the original topic but I'm partly responsible for that.

My choice is to continue to keep in the left hand lane.

I am quite conversant with merging traffic having travelled up and down the A roads and motorways of Britain for 40 years or so.It generally works pretty well because given warning most drivers choose to find appropriate gaps given to them by other drivers.

The A64 is a good example with various alternating stretches of dual and single carriageway and the only stoppages occur when the drivers who decide that they will travel as far as possible in the narrowing lane stop the slower flow in the other lane and find that they have to force their way in.

This isn't merging traffic as intended just impatient bullying driving like the guy with the land rover.

The difference here is that most drivers on this particular road are fully aware that the road goes into a single lane well before the 300 and 150 signs but tear up as far as the hatchlings and then cut in.

Thanks for quoting rule 134 which is certainly not conclusive.

Driving is all about anticipation and if you can't anticipate a backing up of traffic fair enough.

Hello O mysterious one, weerz tha been?

  5. How would the hospital know that the relative was being accurate and/or honest with the translation?

To perform a procedure without informed consent can open the hospital/healthcare provider up for all sorts of trouble, right up to criminal charges of battery. It's worth remembering the to gain informed consent usually requires more than just passible English.

Well a member of the hospital staff then. How is the interpretor any more qualified to pass on an informed medical translation?

  6. Surely the BBC should scrap all local radio to save funds rather than cutting back on every live sport?

Who really listens to it 90% of the time? The only useful bit is the local sports coverage, and a long time ago they used to tell you when the schools were shut :hihi:.

All of the local content they 'provide' could be accessed on the internet, if it's not already on there anyway.

Although if they scrapped it what would all the Alan Partridge types do?

This may surprise you but not everybody is interested in sport

  7. Why so ? I am surprised you advocate such dangerous advice

I have witnessed first hand what can happen on a hospital ward when a patient uses faulty electrical equipment they have brought in from home.

It could have been so much worse but only involved a burnt mattress and singed sheets thanks to the quick action of nursing staff.

You should not put electrical eqipment of any sort on soft furnishings even if they have passed the PAT test

  8. You're reading too much into my post there!

    another one.

Maybe you should have thought a bit more before you post. The air ambulance is generally called on advice of first responders attending victim. I was in Iceland car park when ambulance and first responders went up Swanbourne about same time as chopper took off
