  1. Hi Kashul, I am a local practicing Architect and I teach in the University Architecture department and have passed your details on to the member of staff that deals with our "Live Projects" programme where students undertaking the second part of their University education take on real projects for a period of 6 weeks at the start of each academic year. Unfortunately, they're fully arranged for this coming semester, but if it's not too late could be involved in September next year. I'm not sure your reasoning otherwise for getting a student to work on the building. Is it because you want work for free or on the cheap, or is it because you want to offer valuable experience. If the latter, then I would welcome student involvement, but do be aware of the issues already raised about their lack of professional indemnity, experience and, if they're still studying, time. Good luck.
  2. Hi, I was wondering if anyone had any tips/advice about a cat flap issue. We have previously had a small cat flap in place for our 3 cats but one of our cats is too big now that he's grown. We therefore had a large cat flap installed but since this has been done, we've had endless issues with stray cats coming into the house. Our cats don't do anything about them though! The stray cats have then been eating the food and spraying everywhere. I've tried searching places for microchipped large cat flaps (as our cats are all microchipped) but haven't had any luck. There is only a small microchipped cat flap available. Would a dog microchipped flap (if it exists) work with a microchipped cat? Our cats don't wear collars (we tried a number of times!) so the electromagnetic flaps wouldn't be ideal. Does anyone know of others that are available or failing that, any advice? Anything would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Amazingly, he's been found.. in the Manor. He's well, and even bigger. Just to get Gilley, reaquainted with his brother George (unfortunately not going that well) and introduced to the new addition, Rosie. Very pleased.
  4. Hi there, Just to let you know that we had a phone call on the weekend saying that someone thinks they may have seen a cat that looks like Gilley walking around Findon Street, Hillsb/Walkley area on a couple of occasions. He's said to present as skinny and bedraggled looking and definitely long haired ginger. We've been out looking for him last weekend but didn't have any luck. If you happen to pass by there, please keep an eye out for him (if it is him). We're putting up a few posters around there this weekend to see if there is any luck. It's now been over 4 months since he's been missing. Thank you again for your replies - everything's appreciated.
  5. Hi there, Just to make people aware that Gilley continues to be missing. It's now been about 11 and a half weeks since he went missing. We've still no idea what's happened to him. Please could people continue to keep an eye/ear out for him. We've not given up yet but I realise that many of the posters we did put up have either been blown off or torn off the lamp-posts. We miss him very much and if you see him, please try to catch him so that we can check that it is him. Earlier on we had a number of calls saying that people had seen him however he was never caught and whenever we went searching straight after the call, we could never find him. Thank you very much for all your replies. It's appreciated.
  6. Hi there, Gilley our long haired ginger cat is still missing - it's been over 5weeks now. Recently in the last week and a half, we've had quite a few calls from people saying that they think they've seen him on Carr road, off South Road in Walkley. There was a lady in a house on Whitehouse lane that meets Carr Road who contacted us on Sat 5th feb saying that she had fed Gilley a few times recently. We've shown her a recent photo and she is adamant that this is Gilley. My wife has been out searching yesterday and today but to no avail. If anyone happens to go that way, please could you keep an eye/ear out for him. It may be Gilley - she was clear that it was definitely a long haired ginger cat; and it's plausible that he could have gone this far if lost and out of his usual territory. He is distinctively long haired so if not sure, then it most likely won't be him. He does respond to treats (!) but is timid of people. For your information, Gilley is a long haired male ginger cat; neutered, microchipped but not wearing a collar as doesn't like it. He's quite long in body and may appear quite bit in size but it's all fur! We've now put out about a thousand notes through doors, lots of posters up everywhere, an advert in the Star, reports in various pet-related websites etc.
  7. Still no sign. We've put about 500 flyers through doors locally, so maybe that will produce something. Every agency that we can has been notified, so we're still hopeful he might turn up.
  8. Still no sign of him. Maybe a sighting yesterday near by, but if it was him we would have hoped to have seen him by now. Just got stay positive - I guess no news in these cases, is good news.
  9. Thank you everyone for your kind replies. Still no sign; but we're doing everything that we can.
  10. Our long haired ginger cat, Gilley (short for Gilbert), hasn't been home since last night (01/01/11) which is very unlike him and we're starting to worry. We live on Victor street, close to Hillsborough barracks; he's chipped but doesn't have a collar. If you've seen a young male cat answering the description at all in the last day or so, or do so in the next few days, could you let me know? Thanks, Paul
