  1. Hi can anyone advise on a suitable adhesive coating for cellar walls. We reckon the guy we bought the house from (1 year ago) must have just slapped some white paint on the walls before viewing and it is now all blistering and falling off (very powdery too) Thanks Aberdeen
  2. Hello Thanks for responding Sorry to so long in replying. will get back to you.
  3. Hi Can anyone please reccommend someone who could do a good job on this? Many thanks Aberdeen
  4. No I think it has been only in the last week. It was fairly wet, that could have been the last couple of days rain as it always used to be dry whenever I went.
  5. Hi there, have rescued a Begonia from my Husbands office, should have done it ages ago. I used to water it whenever I went in. Found it outside in the garden today leaves have gone soft & withered and it's really leggy. Have repotted it and fed it, wondered if I should cut it back as there are not many signs of new growth. Thanks
  6. Thanks Ricgem We went with reccomendation from a colleague at work in the end.
  7. Can anyone who may have had the above work done recommend a company who undertake both roofing and pointing. The roof is only minor repairs, but as we will require scaffolding we want to get all the work done at once. Many thanks Aberdeen
  8. We pay monthly insurance so a fire check is part of the package. The fire insets seem to be set forward so the fires themselves are not placed directly under the chimney flues. Now I know it is quite easy to see. We did have a Corgie Registerd Gas Fitter look as well and he confirmed it. (No charge) (sorry no longer have his number) Yours may be fine, but it is advisable to get checked as we would never have known if we didn't have a maintainance contract. Good luck.
  9. We have recently moved to a new house. There are 2 beautiful cast iron fireplaces with gas fires, which when inspected by British Gas were found to be unsafe, mainly because the actual gas fires had been adapted to fit the fireplaces and obviously not according to Corgie Reg spec. We do want to use the fires, so if anyone knows of someone qualified to advice on type of fire required and fitting (no point in us going to a showroom as we don't have a clue what's needed) we would be most grateful. 10. Thanks Yellowrose. Will take your advice and take some cuttings now. Looks like we will have to take a chance and cut back to the woody stems later (spring) The shed may collapse by then anyway so it will be out of our hands!
  11. thanks for your messages. The only problem we have is finding out where they start and end! All the flowers of both plants are densley bushed on top and hanging over the shed roof. Should we leave the main stems alone and just cut back within the bushes themselves?
  12. Hi There We have beautiful Fuschia and Clematis bushes growing up and over our garden shed. Can anyone tell us please when and how we should prune these, and how far back we should cut (the woody stems seem to trail down the sides of the shed) Thanks
  13. Thanks for your replys We seem to have plenty of plants that carry nectar in the garden (we have only just moved to our house) I thought that was good as it encouraged the bees. Wouldn't want to think that we were adding to the problems. The smaller bees don't seem to be affected, just the bumbles. I hate to see them dying, thankfully today there have been none. I hope Defra can come up with an answer.Unfortunately we can do nothing about our weather, lets hope it gets warmer for them, so many insects and animals seem to suffer because of our unpredictable seasons.
  14. We have found 4 dying bumble bees in the last two days, please can anyone throw any light on this? We do not use any insecticide or the like on on the garden. We have a bees nest which is in between stones in the wall, but the bees in and out of this appear to be smaller and seem to be thriving.
