  1. Does anyone know how much Cex would give me for this? would they offer me silly money? HP AMD Sempron 1.8ghz, 1gb ram 40gb hard drive, dvd-rw, windows xp home edition, wi-fi, 15.4" tft. Cheers.

  3. The reason i ask is there is no rugby games available on the Xbox 360 and Rugby 08 was not released on the 360 so i just wondered if Rugby 06 on the Xbox worked on the 360.

The Xbox 360 is much better in my opinion, the only thing that has let it down is the reliability issues which are now being sorted out, microsoft have on the quiet started shipping out consoles with the new falcon cpu's in/HDMI port/new heatsinks which could solve the red ring of death problem. Microsoft haven't announced it because they wouldn't want people not buying old stock consoles that the shops have. The games on the xbox are great, the graphics are amazing and xbox live is great as i use it alot. I wouldn't touch a PS3 even if it was selling for £250, most people prefer the xbox 360 in my opinion.
  7. Some Xbox 360 premiums now have the new falcon 65nm cpu chips in and new heatsinks and a HDMI port. I exchange my faulty Xbox 360 premium today and i was suprised to find that it had a manufacture date of 29/08/2007 and it was lot number 0735 and it had a HDMI port on it, if the lot number is 0734 or above then they have the new chips which are supposed to reduce the chances of the red ring of death. Also when buying one look for the HDMI logo on the back of the box and also look for something on the side of the box saying TEAM FDOU, all these things indicate that they have the new chips and not the old ones.
  8. The good news is i wanted an elite or a halo xbox because most of them have the new chips in and the premium have alot of problems. Well today i got this xbox 360 from currys as i exchanged it and the manufacture date of it is 28/08/2007, apparently xbox consoles manufactured after 24/08/2007 have the new chips in. Also on the side of the box it says TEAM FDOU which i believe means that it has the new falcon chip in it and new heatsinks, am i right on this? Also this xbox is more or less silent, the other xbox's are noisy, it has two big fans on the back as well. I read on the internet a while back that if it has TEAM FDOU and it is lot 0734 or later and it was manufactured on 24/08/2007 or later then it has the new falcon chip, as i said above the manufacture date is 28/08/2007 and it has TEAM FDOU on the box plus it is lot 0735, obviously i am not sure but does anyone know if there are any other ways of knowing for sure? If so would this prevent me from having the red ring of death and other problems? thanks.
  9. Yes but knowing the DSG group they will say that i cannot have a refund and can only have an exchange, now i am really hoping for the red ring of death as soon as possible. Obviously on new reciept it says exchange and everything but i should be able to get a full refund now. I want to purchase either a halo xbox 360 or an elite as i think both of them have the updated chips and heatsinks and should not have the problems the premium has had.
  10. I went into currys today and exchanged it however, now i have a new reciept with today's date on it could i take it back to a currys store and get a full refund, as before they said their company policy is that you cannot get a refund after 28 days.
  11. I'll probably go into currys tomorrow and they will refuse me an exchange or say i am not entitled to it or come out with you have to go to pc world to exchange it.
  12. I've noticed online that several Curry's stores in sheffield have Xbox 360's in stock, can i exchange it there even thought it was purchased from PC World?
  13. Thanks hotphil, The reason i turned down their offer of an replacement is because this is the 2nd one i've taken back in 7 weeks, i don't want another xbox 360 premium going faulty. Also after the way they have treated me i do not want their custom and would much rather have a refund. I have been looking at several websites and some state i am within my rights to ask for a refund.
  14. Does anyone know the address for PC World's head office?, i cannot find it anywhere. Is there anyone else who i should send a copy of this letter to apart from head office and the store manager? Thanks.
  15. I think i'll send multiple copies of my letter to the store manager and head office. Think i'll say something like this. Dear Sir/Madam, I am writing to you regarding the issue of my faulty xbox 360 premium console. I purchased my first one from you on 18th august 2007, within 6 days this had become faulty so exchanged it for another one on 24th August 2007, now less than 7 weeks later this one has become faulty. I went into the store to get a refund from you and this was refused, i stated that i did not want an exchange and the store had no stock of the consoles anyway. A few days later i went into the store again and spoke to the store manager, he said that he could not refund me despite me quoting the sales of goods act and saying that the item was not fit for purpose, i spoke to someone at customer services on friday night and they said that if i took the item back to the store i could have a full refund from you. I would like this matter resolved as soon as possible, i would like a refund within 7 days otherwise i will be contacting trading standards and also i intend to take you to court for the amount of £280.00 plus i will be seeking compensation for the time you have wasted. Hopefully we can resolve this matter quickly and peacefully without the need for court action. Thank you for your time in this matter.
  16. Yes but if i got a premium console no doubt i would be returning it again due to them being so faulty, i want an xbox elite. After their shoddy and appalling customer service i would much rather get my money back and purchase an elite from elsewhere, they have acted out of order and i am sure most people would back my claim that pc world's customer service is one of the worst around.
  17. They offered me a replacement premium console from the rotherham store but i decided that i don't want anything from there again.
  18. I will take your advice about sending letters by registered post, i will start sending letters first thing on monday, where's the best place to send the letter's to? I'll start typing a letter out now, any ideas how i should word it? should i quote the sales of goods act like i have above?
  19. Thanks for that punk, i think we should team up and do justice in this matter then. Do you think that i am entitled to a refund? as i said i bought my first one from there and it went faulty within 6 days so i exchanged it this one is udner 7 weeks old and has gone faulty and they will not refund, i've mentioned the sales of goods act to them and threatened legal action and they do not want to know, surely i am entitled to a refund for an item under 7 weeks old? Like i said i was willing to compromise if they knocked £20 off an elite and i would have exchanged but as they won't compromise i do not want an exchange from them as i would rather get my money back and buy one from elsewhere, i will never buy from there again. I am determined to get my money back no matter what it takes.

Also, you are not entitled to a refund if you simply change your mind about liking the goods. Q9. Must I accept a credit note instead of a refund? It depends on why you want to return the goods. • If you have changed your mind, then the shop doesn't have to do anything. • But if the goods are faulty, incorrectly described or not fit for purpose, then you are entitled to your money back (provided you act quickly), and you certainly don't have to take a credit note • If you do accept a credit note in these circumstances, watch out, as there may be restrictions on their use. • If the shop displays a sign stating they only give credit notes instead of refunds, they might be breaking the law and you could report them to Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06. Like i said i bought the 1st one from there and it went faulty within 6 days, i exchanged it and this one has gone faulty in just under 7 weeks, they keep saying i cannot have a refund blah blah blah. Can i sue them possibly if they keep refusing to refund it? i don't know where i stand legally on this matter.
  22. I spoke to customer services on the phone last night and they told me that i could have a refund. I went into PC World today, they had no Xbox 360's plus i don't want anything from that shop again, i demanded a refund for my 7 week old Xbox 360 and i was refused, i even threatened to sue them and contact head office but they still refused. I really don't know what to do, surely i am entitled to a refund and they are fobbing me off? i spent nearly 2 hours in there today, i don't want to keep going in there as that is the 2nd time. I rang customer services again today when in store and they said exchange only which is different to what someone else told me last night, they have no xbox's in stock at the moment but i would rather get a refund and buy one from elsewhere, i feel that something 7 weeks old should be refunded if i request a refund as i am sure the sales of goods act would back me up on this surely? I need their number for head office, if i threaten head office with legal action will they back down and refund me? I think this situation is a total joke and i'm getting really stressed out over it. They had some xbox 360 elite's in and i said to them knock £20 off so i can have the elite for £280 and i'll exchange it but they would not do that so they won't compromise, they have had 2 chances to sort it out so i'm going all out for a refund now. I need to talk to someone high up like someone at head office but i don't know their number, a phone number and an address for them would be good as i will clearly inform them that if i do not get a refund i will take them to court providing the law is on my side in this matter.
  23. I am wondering about something regarding the halo xbox 360 special edition console, some people say the heatsinks and fans are better and it is quieter. I was wondering does anyone know whether the red ring of death is an issue with this console as it was only released at the end of september. I've seen that a few people have had the red ring of death on the elite even though the elite is supposed to not have that problem. Cheers.
  24. I have no idea, game in town didn't have any today, pc world have none, cex don't have any, i'm not sure about hmv, woolworths, virgin etc. I know alot of elite's have been recalled as they had the wrong leads in the box but surely somewhere has them in stock.
  25. Does anyone know where i can get an xbox elite from? i've checked online at currys, argos etc and no where has them. Cheers.
