  1. i tthink i'll have to agree with donuticus on the "transformation" of some girls during the weekend. i lived in sheffield for 6 years and when i first moved there from greece i was shocked (especially the first few times i went out). the one thing that struck me as really weird was the fact that when outside it was 5 degrees and they were happy enough to go out in a miniskirt and sleeveless top... i was freezing just watching them. attention: i've got nothing against british women, i think they're great! :-)
  2. that's discusting... what kind of person would do such a thing... i'll just have to agree with "okka north" that they are complete scum. i wish i was there to give them a piece of my mind. and for me it's (in most cases at least) the paarent's fault. who said a smacking every now and then isn't acceptable... i got my fair share (not ashamed to say) and turned out fine
  3. TO POSTMAN: unfortunately i can't send you a private message, but i know exactly what you mean, 'cause that's the reason i came back (family matters a lot here), but now they see how unhappy i am here and they've started to accept that i'm leaving again... it's my poor parents i'm thinking about as my only sister lives in germany... unless you've got a settled job think about it very well...
  4. to be honest, for me it's not just sheffield i miss but the whole package of living on england. i've lived in derbyshire as well and i miss that as well terribly. imagine my shock when i left a little village in derbyshire and came to live in athens... couldn't get worse
  5. i know... and they do have a tendency to go on strike in the middle of the summer when the temperatures make the smell even worse. and i'm supposed to be living in a quite "clean" part of athens
  6. you 'd love it for hols but not for living here... that's what people don't understand. sadly even for holidays it's now quite expensive. the other day i was watching the news and there was a report on how expensive tourists find Athens and they were also asking some english girls in rhodes why they go "crazy" when they come on hols here and their answer was: "because there is no police". lovely...
  7. honestly greek tv is unbearable. only about 10% of the programmes are watchable and these are shown after midnight (for vampire viewers). the rest is sadly for people with less than 50 IQ. no dicumentaries whatsoever and no educational programmes. luckily there's a new channel that shows older bbc documentaries at normal times.
  8. oh, and the tv is crap. i miss the BBC :-)
  9. hello everyone.. busy weekend and i couldn't reply. oh guys... if only you knew what it's like. it's not at all the paradise they make it sound over here. there is no jobs (unless you know someone really important), the weather is hot like hell (i don't think anyone can stand temperatures of 45 celcius - including me being born and raised here), everyone is rude, they don;t give a **** about their neighbour, the streets smell of rotting rubbish (honestly i thought there was something dead in the bins outside my house today - if anything you can't blame me for nationalism). i made the mistake of packing up two years ago and coming here with my boyfriend but now we've come to our senses (thank god!) and we are coming back!!! :-) Elena
  10. believe me... living in greece is not at all what its cracked up to be can't wait to leave to be honest
  11. Hello everyone. I' m new here as I only discovered the site a few days ago. Used to live in Shefield as a student and had the best time. I didn't miss it that much at first but having lived in other places now i realise how good it was... or maybe ot was just because I was a student there... anyway... i'd love to be back and i'm planning a visit maybe soon... hope everything is the same in good old sheffield... exactly as I remember it:thumbsup:
