It was good Tetleys at that stage but I remember before the courtyard was introduced that it was almost undrinkable so that was another improvement at the same time.
The pub existed BEFORE the courtyard was introduced? I never knew that. I went in the 1990s after the starry sky and courtyard had gone.

I remember my uncle and aunt telling me they met there in 1972 or thereabouts. They got married in 1973 anyway.Â

I remember most of these shops folks- so thanks for the memories!
My experience of Chapel walk in the seventies is that there were lots of book shops- a methodist one where you went downstairs, and it also had a sort of mezzanine floor above.
Richard shops was on the corner of Chapel walk and Fargate, and Van Allen, where I think Macdonalds or HMV is now.
And Saxone shoe shop that had a windy staircase, where the Halifax is now... and... and... my God! I've slipped back in time!

Unfortunately I heard today that Mick had a heart attack yesterday and didn't make it.

I know someone who lost her virginity at Ray Stuart's house. This was to another member of the Radio Hallam team who was married! Ray Stuart was not in the house at the time but his colleague obviously used it for assignations. Back in the 70s and the Money Mountain days.Â

I went in 1984 I'm sure as I was 10.Â

I came across this thread in a search for the history of the Navigation pub. I appreciate that it is 14 years old now (the thread) but I genuinely thought the OP was a teenager with the attitude and grammar.

In times gone by, I'd often be found "scrattin' " for a few pence to get a loaf and some milk!

My Gran would describe something as "tozzin" if it was a "Bobby-Dazzler" ;)
I've heard older people say they were so skint they were "scrattin' our arses"

My Nan used to say:

£12,900 a year when I got my first "proper" job (1995). I thought I had won the lottery when I got my first payslip.Â

Hello - I heard about this recently, and that it was in Cambridge Street. Does anyone know anything about it please?
Â
Thanks.Â

Hope someone can suggest somewhere that we can use without - how can I put it - people coming scrabbling about, haggling and wanting to pay 10p for something as this will be for charity and we won't be selling rubbish. I don't want a car boot for this very reason. I was going to write "chav free zone" but thought that might be rude!Â
Â
Thanks!

My ex was a cyclist for Sheffield Racing Club and went to cycle round the States in 1995 with his friend, and was sponsored by Wilsons on City Road.

I never found out what happened to him as I dumped him ........ I think he stayed out there and married someone!

If you had a white bra on the lights would pick it out - very embarrassing.
Â
We went in circa 1986?? when Gary Glitter was there and he fell off his shoes and couldn't appear, did his back in I think.
Â
Wouldn't pay 10p to see him now!

Now I don't remember this, but I do remember my friend's older sister going on about this place and some boyfriend taking her to it but where it was I don't know - can anyone fill me in?
Â
Thanks.

Have lots of pics from my younger days there, we used to think it was a big night out!!

We went one Xmas, a huge crowd of us, girls and partners. Some charlie ordered a couple of bottles of wine and then acted dumb when the bill arrived - we all ended up chipping in but thought he was a complete Scrooge. My friend dumped him shortly afterwards.
