  1. I think we should let time tell us all, Good luck to all the companies.
  2. Google did have shares with uber but have since left,Their starting their own firm.
  3. Sorry about full stops. Not connected to city taxis, just someone with good info on the industry.
  4. Unfortunately your dad has listened to the rumours of some taxi drivers who never have a clue what they are saying uber launched in Sheffield on the 5th of June how they have been doing NHS work for a few months is beyond me drivers saying they are targeting nhs work without a single uber driver done a direct job from the NHS it's rumour my friend your dad will tell you uber only deal with anything over e-mail there's no speaking to anyone part of uber on the phone a little inconvenient don't you think for a company to give a contract to someone they can't even speak to on the phone if there ever was a issue the uber system works direct from customers phone to the drivers phone any issue that comes from it has to be e-mailed and replied by uber however long that takes is anyone's guess in any city that uber operate in they have not taken contracted work.
  5. If drivers actually listened to the product they signed up to there wouldn't be any rumours going about £10p/h minimum true yes here to stay no reason it's good way to recruit drivers time limit until uber decide they have enough work after that there's no guarantee of any work same as other firms.Uber going for NHS contract in Sheffield said who? uber don't do contract work never have also NHS contract is only given to a firm who have wheelchair friendly vehicels in their fleet. Uber has pro's and con's it won't become a major success as some people think in Sheffield it will just be another firm my bet is drivers will start leaving it once all goodies are removed and too many drivers being recruited remember uber don't have a cap on driver limit the more the better it's happy times for now driver getting paid public getting free rides once all settles down then it's different matter surge prices starting to come into play now aswell. Just hope people realise it's important to still support your local firm before you realise what the problem becomes.
  6. Not worth joining a small firm it's not going to make you a decent amount it's city or uber my opinion is if your going to be in the game for a while go for city have a feeling uber drivers are going to start crying soon.
  7. Grenoside123 uber have set a good standard in other major uk cities but will it do really well in Sheffield I'm not so sure city taxis also have a app and are introducing payment through app very soon. Sheffield taxis are quite cheap compared to other city's in the uk that's where uber has done well price difference not much difference in uber and Sheffield prices
  8. The guaranteed pay by uber of £10 p/h is only to get drivers working for the company as you mentioned they haven't done a lot of advertising so they could see it would be difficult for drivers wanting to join them not knowing what there earnings would be. The guaranteed pay of 10 p/h is only in within certain hours a few in the morning and a few during night they will remove it once they get number of drivers they want on there fleet.
  9. All uber has done is give the public another option of travel they are selective in their drivers and customers.
  10. Know the owner very well he has spent a lot of coin restoring it to it's former glory although in Sheffield once Hackney carriage vehicles become 15 years old they can't be in service no more but the council can appreciate this vehicle so therefore let it run the streets. The Owner hardly works on the cab so has rented it out to let it do what the vehicle was built to do.
  11. Yeah I can't see them doing well either just thought some people would have tried it out since they are giving free rides out.
