  2. Ever wish you hadn't started something. A general post to say that the NHS had served me very well has turned into another one of those where people then start to have a dig at them. Yes the NHS make mistakes, some big ones at that and I have been on the receiving end of some rubbish treatment several times. I do feel for people that have not had a good level of care and you have every right to feel the way you do but i was simply expressing my views on my care and to say that there are a lot of hard-working, caring and under paid staff in the nhs who do deserve a big thank you when they do get it right.
  3. Maybe I have based my opinion on a recent experience and this does not reflect the situation for everyone. I have also had some bad experiences in the past and appreciate that your father and family didn't receive a good level of care. I was just wanting to highlight that this week the care I received was above and beyond what I would have expected and the staff deserve praise for that.
  4. I have also been seen in Chesterfield hospital recently and received excellent care there. My only concern though is with primary care. I know gp's are also under a lot of pressure but i think they need to take a step back and listen to patients a bit more. Many times I have been sent away and told nothing is wrong only then to find I was right and had to start treatment that I could have had weeks earlier. Anyway back to secondary care, I can't complain about it.
  5. Longy67 - it was actually the CT Dept at the RHH that I attended along with an appointment in out-patients. The CT dept was busy as I expect it always is but the staff made me feel like I was the only patient there and I genuinely felt cared about. Keep up the amazing work that you are all doing and thank you again.
  6. People are often quick to complain about the NHS and I am one of them. However, this last week I was in need of some urgent tests and I can't praise the staff at the Northern General and Hallamshire enough. The care I have received was excellent and I can't thank the people that cared for me enough. You have restored my faith in the service. Thank you.
  7. I read the link thanks. Also there's the little girl in the news today who was turned away by her gp for being late and then sadly died. Poor little thing, it's heart breaking. There's no care anymore. Gp receptionists need a big shake up, except the ones that actually do the job because they care. I had a similar problem with my little girl but after a struggle got her seen. I told them I thought she was having an asthma attack and they asked if it would 'wait until tomorrow' and they would fit her in. Could write a book about this surgery.
  8. I don't know where Gleadless Medical Centre came but in my opinion that should have been at the bottom. A couple of the reception staff there are vile, the ones that have been there that long that they have took up root. I know the challenges they face on a daily basis but a smile wouldn't go a miss. However some of them are nice. As for the doctors I could rant about them all day. I often wonder how I'm still breathing.
  9. You obviously had a good experience there. Yes the footfall is good and the event is well advertised but some of the regular stall holders are not very nice. I would not make inappropriate comments about goods on someone else's stall. I have traded in lots of places and this was the worst.
  10. Used to have a stall there but was put off by the regular traders who were always commenting on the cost of items on my stall and what kind of things I was selling. Not a nice place to trade, wouldn't ever trade or visit there again. Also the organizer gives in to the regular traders and they sort of rule him as they have regular stalls. It's all about keeping them happy.
  11. Just think people should have respect when they are in your home.
  12. No i'm not Asian and neither was the workman. The worker was a from a company that I won't name but he was carrying out work on behalf of Keepmoat who are doing work for sheffield homes. I can take a joke but I personally know someone who has been affected by the terrorists so it is something that I won't tolerate as it is a matter close to my heart.
  13. Also yes you may hear worse down at the pub but this was in my home. I wouldn't dream of saying anything inappropriate in the home of someone I didn't know.
  14. I did speak to him first then threw him out of the house. My front door was wide open when he shouted it and I was concerned that anyone walking past may have heard him.
  15. I had two workmen in my council property recently and they made a joke about terrorists and one of them shouted 'Allahu Akbar'. Without going into detail I reported them and the one that said that got a warning from his manager. I was very offended that they made a joke about terrorists due to all the attacks that have happened. I was made to feel that I had made a big thing out of nothing and wondered if anyone has any views on this. Sensible replys only please.
  16. I live at Newfield Green end of Blackstock Road and moved here from Arbourthorne 18 months ago. It's a different world to Arbourthorne, it's so quiet I have much nicer neighbours. People slate Gleadless Valley but I don't have any problems with it. There are good and bad people on all estates.
  17. A family member of mine had a break in about 6 weeks ago and tools were stolen from the garage. They also saw 2 men drive off in a car. This happened on Arbourthorne. Fed up of hearing on here comments about Arbourthorne and Gleadless Valley, theres loads of decent people on these estates but people only ever hear about the bad stuff that goes on. I live on Gleadless Valley and the people I know are decent, kind and hard working. The trouble is not always linked to the estate it happens on, a police officer friend of mine says theres kids on Fulwood that cause nothing but trouble but we never hear about that do we.
  18. I will let you know what I find out from the land registry. I asked the workmen about moving the rubbish into the garden and they said they would be reporting back that the only rubbish there was between the boundary and not on the garden. I don't know why they just cant clear it away because someone is going to have to. It may be between the gardens but I like to have a clean area surrounding my home, it may not bother some people but it does me.
  19. Can anyone contact the Land Registry and would they be happy to give out that information?
  20. Mine is owned by the council but i'm not sure if the other property is. i'm sure I could find out though. The council did actually send out three workmen to look at the rubbish and they insisted they couldn't take it but did say that if it was on our garden they wouldn't have a problem removing it.
  21. I have recently moved into a council property and on starting to clear the garden I have come across a mound of rocks/rubble and planks of wood between the boundary of our garden and the one at the back of us, enough to fill a small skip. I telephoned the council and asked if they were able to clear the area as it doesn't belong to me or the neighbouring property but they have said that as the rubbish is not on anyone's garden then we should just fence the garden off and ignore the rubbish. Has anyone had a similar experience as I thought the council would prefer to keep areas clean and tidy. I would have hired a skip myself if it was my stuff to move but don't see why I should have to pay the cost.
  22. On Sunday my 10 year olds bike was stolen from outside our front door on Blackstock Road, she had just popped into the house for a few minutes. I hope whoever took it rots in hell for stealing from a child.
  23. As for the womans age I just found it disgusting for a her to be selling that stuff at her age.
