6 posts stating facts. Facts that provoked your reaction.
and almost provoked me into switching on the telly.
but have resisted.
-
You can't see the Don from the 52 bus stop at Hillsborough bus station so I suspect that photo may not be real.
Not even if you stand on the top if it?
I think the photo is real.
-
Have all these protestors taking the day off work to go to the funeral?
Or are they just missing a jeremy kyle or odd uni lecture.
Are you taking the day off to watch it ont' telly?
-
Really, I must have missed that!?
See post 402 - a bit difficult to follow now others are thankfully deleted
The reply is "thanks bonzo" was quoting my reporting post ; implying I am you .
-
No, thank you!
You have managed to prove my point about young people getting involved in the debate, then, to top it off, you have stepped WAY over the line by mentioning terrorist attacks! Made my morning!
................ and then accused me of being you. Top stuff.

And many more think she was good for the country. She was elected by popular vote at 3 elections. A succession of Labour leaders clearly didn't offer the voters anything they considered preferable.

Thanks bonzo
Oh don't be so silly. Debate or switch off your PC.
You have made a disgraceful comment and this is your only retort. Pathetic behaviour.
-
I wasn't alive when Winston Churchill was PM during the war. That doesn't mean I am unable to make up my own mind about what he did.
That's what Bonzo is saying. You have said exactly the same thing.

From a good old lefty publication. By Ed Waugh Published 15 July 2008
http://www.newstatesman.com/uk-politics/2008/07/state-funeral-thatcher-labour
Gordon Brown’s announcement that he and his acolytes have drawn up a £3m plan to give Margaret Thatcher a state funeral is a disgrace and an unforgivable betrayal of the millions of Labour and trade union people who have constantly cast their votes for the party.
So the left say they planned it - and the right say they did. Confused.
-
I thought it was all Thatcher's wishes.
I did too - and the Daily Mail does;
How Baroness Thatcher planned her own funeral and chose the hymn played at Princess Diana’s funeral ‘I Vow To Thee, My Country'
-
Does he mention that every detail of the funeral was proposed by Gordon Brown?
Every detail? was it?
-
What is the point in protesting about about something from the past that cannot be changed,it just does not make any sort of logical sense.Smashing shop windows like they did last week speaks volumes about their level of intelligence.
If she had died in power would that have made logical sense?
-
Maye i should start a street party to celebrate the death of Hitler?
He's dead but im sure alot of people didnt agree with any of his policies.
Maybe if we protest it might make a difference & change things.
I am sure at the time of his death some did protest /celebrate . As people have all over the world when other significant leaders have died.
-
Don't be silly it always the Tories fault don't you know
Our great and prosperous Labour leaders cannot possibly have done such a thing.
Here's what JP had to say:
Powerful stuff from John Prescott in his Sunday Mirror column where he frothed about Maggie one last time. Prezza went off on one about the Tories hijacking her funeral:
“Even in death, she is spinning from her grave. She claimed she never wanted a state funeral, but she planned to give herself the same ceremonial one as the Queen Mother. And her “children”, the out-of-touch Tory Boys Cameron and Osborne, are getting YOU to foot the £10million bill for the biggest political propaganda exercise this country has ever seen. This is what “Operation True Blue” is about. It’s not a remembrance. It’s a rebrand.”
-
BUT SHE'S DEAD!
People protest to change something or make a difference. Whats gonna change?
They are protesting against her polices I guess - which they couldn't do at the time she made them because THEY WERE NOT ALIVE.
-
If they want to protest why dont they protest when energy prices keep going up or when criminals get suspended sentences for mugging old ladies?
Or even better, protest when she was alive.
As i said, she hasnt been in power for over 20 years what are they hoping to achieve.
I thought us brits were better than that.
The protest against her had to be linked to "something" ........
As you say they were not alive during her reign and therefore she hadn't made a policy for them to protest against .
-
Having grown up through the miners strike I know what effect it had on communities but a lot of the blame lies with Scargill!! she wasn't my favourite person in the world but do I think its idiotic to celebrate the death of an 87 year old dementia sufferer? Yes
It is idiotic to celebrate it. It is equally as distressing to many that the public are paying for it.
-
Most of the people who danced in the street weren't even alive when she was in power. Alot of them just looked like their parents did quite well in the Thatcher years as they seem to be Oxford students and middle class crusties.
There were some genuine negative reactions from people, especially in the north but they were statements saying that they didnt really like her that much and she had destroyed industrial communities like mining, building.
But she's dead, protesting on the day of her funeral is not going to change one single thing and is disrespectful.
Its just pointless and makes them look like morons.
I am not sure why that matters? Surely it is a good thing that the young are showing an interest in politics?

We all get a £10m 'do' in central London ?.Thats going to get expensive. That made me laugh.
-
Totally agree with this.
Why when she said she wanted no state funeral or fuss is this going on.Who decided to over ride her last wishes?
She did want the funeral she is getting - she had planned most of it.
(which isn't a state one but a ceremonial one.... although the nuances of difference , apart from laying in state for people to file past, escape me).

I find the reviews saying BB's is good on this thread a little odd.
Two of the posts are EXACTLY the same, and two from people with very low post counts.
Suspect.
I'll add a review. I've been 3 times. Once my choice, once to see if the bad meal I had the first time was a "one off", and once under protest as friends wanted to go.
All 3 times very poor. Bad service all times, burnt food, bland food and incorrectly charged (overcharged of course).
The 3rd time we went there were 8 of us. Not one was impressed.
Never again.
Every word you say here echos my own thoughts.

Different standards to here in Yorkshire.
Perhaps visit your child's school and see what they eat?
I did and stopped them eating it. Hence why I would not want it even if free.
These children attend a school in Hampshire:
still not looking great.
-
I just googled, my daughters school menu looks ok, salad, curry n rice etc. Not sure what goes in the curry, but if the kids occasionally choose a healthy option it should be ok.
The salad only has to be one piece of cucumber.
The rice will be a small portion of white
The curry ; as you say content of the meat is unknown (but it will be the cheapest available) ,it will not, I very much suspect, be wholesome and freshly prepared.
-
I would have thought that there was a legal duty to provide a ballance diet?
You would indeed.
Did you ever follow this story though:
http://www.ifood.tv/blog/a-nine-year-old-pulls-plug-on-uk-school-lunches
An extract:
Cheeseburger, potato croquettes, ice lollies – this is what the hungry children at Martha’s school are served during lunch hour.
does that look good to you?
-
I wouldn't want my children to be provided with free school means unless the quality increased dramatically.

Sorry - my presumption. And not picking on you - and it certainly is not my right to do that.
But you were suggesting that all those there were:
Have all these protestors taking the day off work to go to the funeral?
Or are they just missing a jeremy kyle or odd uni lecture.
so to be able to be so stereotypical I thought you must be watching .
