  1. I'll be in the car boot section at the festival and have a large Liberta Happy House Cage for sale so if any of you are on the look out for a new home for your Fur-kids, PM me and I'll send you details
  2. Having lived in a fair few areas of Sheffield over the past 4 years (I was a student so have moved 5 times!) my favourite place to live is Nether Edge, very leafy and green, beautiful big houses and not far from Abbeydale/London road, so very regular public transport and some fantastic shops and restaurants close by.
  3. Jodie, do you have a picture of him you could post? As I saw a black and white kitty outside our flat today that we've never seen before. You're not going to have any one "find" him if they can't identify him
  4. Well there is an outbreak of foot and mouth in Southern African atm which is why I think there is the hype about APH carrying it. Definitely with you on the importation point. A lot of exotics pet shops sell wild caught stock, the animals are feral and often die quickly due to stress/parasites/disease etc. My main passion pets wise is sugar gliders (hence the url of my website ) and I know that a high proportion of the pet shop stock is wild caught and imported. Which is vile! It's also why I never, ever buy pets from pet shops - I'm not supporting that sort of trade. With reptiles they will generally tell you whether an animal is captive bred, captive farmed or wild caught, but exotic mammals are a completely different story!
  5. Thanks guys, yes it was absolutely horrific. My partner and I were in shock for weeks tbh. I keep a few different species of exotics, and we'd used this pet sitter with our little ones 4 or 5 times previously with no hassle (they keep a lot of exotics too) so were not in any way worried as to the care they were being given. Sadly it was not up to scratch, and I ended up left with 5 dead animals, and 2 tiny babies that I had to hand rear for 6 weeks (feeding every 2 hours). The worst part of it was that the partner had discovered one of them dead 3 hours prior to calling us, and not thought to take the rest of them to a vet. I have never been so angry in my life! so A) if you're looking for a pet sitter, no matter if you've used them before MAKE SURE they are insured, and fully grasp the care requirements of your animal (even if you've laid it out for them on a plate). Also make sure that they will call your vet if needed. and B) if you are looking to make any spare cash as a pet sitter make SURE you are insured, or it could be incredibly costly for you. Also if there is anything you are "unsure" about, ask the owner, stay in close contact, and if in doubt don't take them on.
  6. forgot to add if you want any info on them feel free to contact me though my website - the address is http://www.sugar-gliders.co.uk
  7. APH are absolutely awesome little critters, and the best starter exotic mammal I can think of I am slightly biased though as I breed them! As for them "bringing in" foot and mouth, that is slightly ridiculous, due to the fact that as a species they have never been wild. They are a hybrid species created from two different forms of african hedgehog, and the hogs we have in this country today are a very long way from these wild ancestors.
  8. Any news about the male Jodie? Poor little kitten, it's getting cold
  9. Hi all, I'm seeking anyone with cresties and/or set ups for sale. I'm a long time keeper of exotic pets, and they will be coming to a great home! I am predominantly looking for geckos that fire up with a dark/black base, but am also interested in pinstripe, harlequin and tricolour cresties
  10. Personally I would advise against offering the service without insurance, we had a pet sitter recently who starved to death some of our animals - I've never been so mortified in my life, and it ended up costing her vast amounts of money which she just could not afford.
