saxondale   10 #3577 Posted January 15, 2009 If you look at the bolded part (my bolding) you can understand our (Chrissie and me at least) resentment at your posting in this thread. The title of this thread is "Champix - new quit smoking pill" and the title obviously suggests that discussions herein are about Champix a pill. Yet you barge in with your own personal agenda' date=' suggesting that a contributer to a thread about a [b']pill[/b] doesn't need 'these pills'. So, frankly, you are not encouraging her, you are subverting her intention to use a pill as a cessation aid. Please don't disparage anyone for quitting, no matter the method they use to quit. Disparaging is not encouraging.  I'm pleased you have quit for sixteen weeks. I've only quit for four weeks so you've twelve weeks on me. My agenda is about using Champix to quit smoking. Declare your agenda and if it's not about using Champix, post elsewhere other than a thread about champix.  Thank you.    sorry, you miss understand me - non taken
 Share this content via...
-SD-   10 #3578 Posted January 15, 2009 Hi all, I'm new to the thread unfortunatly i don't have the time to read the previous 178 pages  Anyway i've been a smoker for the last 16years i've tried and failed repeatedly to quit previously using NRT and today is day 1 of champix for me.  I feel really positive about quiting this time around, nothing to report yet really this being day one, although the last couple of cigs i had seemed to taste overly strong, surely this has to be psychosomatic as i've only had one pill so far? SpeedDemon   10 #3579 Posted January 15, 2009 Mr SpeedDemon & I have now NOT smoked approximately 920 cigarettes. Each! That's a saving of £460 between us!  <<<<<Wonders where all the money went?  Welcome to the forum -SD- and good luck with quitting
 Share this content via...
Ophelia   10 #3580 Posted January 15, 2009 Good morning All,  Day 17 Champix - Day 12 non-smoking. My good humour is starting to wear on some people at work - c'est la vie! (The same people who had no faith in my quitting I might add) I am still so thrilled to be smoke free that each day without a ciggy is like a present to me! I refuse to give in to the 'twinges' and, like Nanny H I tell myself to stop being a sook and behave like the adult I want to be.... seems to be working  Welcome -SD- I set my quit date for Day 14, but quit on Day 7 - I noticed the difference too with the first few pills. By the time I had the first set of 'blue boys' I had lost all interest in ciggys. I do recommend you read the earlier posts as they provide valuable insight into what you can expect. Good luck hon!  Nanny H - Great to see you - well done with quitting. Keep posting - look forward to reading about your progress.  Quack - Well - what started off as 'unattainable envy' about your quit duration - is now becoming 'just a matter of time'  Later. prowler   10 #3583 Posted January 15, 2009 Hi to all.  Just a quick update. Unfortunately its not good news about my boy George (dog). He has a tumor on his heart so the specialist has said he will deteriorate over the coming days to weeks.:(:(  I am absolutely cut to pieces but I refuse to reach for the ciggies (as yet anyhow)  7 weeks today and although very low at the min I am still very proud of myself I just need to be strong over the coming weeks.  Emma Emma - I feel for you...stay strong for George, enjoy every minute of caring for him. Ophelia   10 #3584 Posted January 16, 2009 Just got back from my doctors appointment - and here I was waiting for the fanfare and the streamers and the pats on the back - he tells me he has to warn me about something..... I lean right in.... yeah? I asked.... He tells me that food will probably tastes better now - but not to eat too much because then..... I WILL GET FAT! What a F*****G nerve! As if a pound or five is anywhere near the risk of smoking a pack a day! Left the clinic feeling all grouchy and ate a tiddley-oggie on the way home! Bah! Quack'sEcho   10 #3585 Posted January 16, 2009 Welcome, -SD- and congratulations everyone. It appears to be going well for all except you, prowler You seem to be experiencing some difficulties this time around. Hang in there, it may just get better.   My quit counter is counting in months and days instead of just days now.  What a letdown, Ophelia. Hey, I'll give you the praise you so well deserve. You rawk, girl!  Great to see your keystrokes again, LINDAJAYNE. You're a star!  I agree with Lyn, Free2breathe. I stopped drinking coffee when I started Champix and replaced it with heaps of water. Do you notice how dry your mouth gets at night when you sleep? That's because Champix dehydrates you. Drinking coffee, a diuretic which increases fluid excretion, only exacerbated the dehydration effect of Champix. So, if you're drinking coffee, cut it right down or quit and increase your water uptake at the same time.  Lyn, your last update only mentioned that you managed a day without smoking. Any increase on that to report?
 Share this content via...
Free2breathe   10 #3586 Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks for the advice on the water lyn and Quack's echo, but I do, I'm a 8 glasses a day drinker anyway and since starting the champix it's increased as i drink a pint with the pills, as well as eating at the time, I figured if i followed doc's advice on how to take them i would minimise the side effects, still maybe i should quite moaning after all it's only nausea, and i coped with it during both my pregnancies morning, noon and night, I should be grateful it's not that bad LOL.. but there is only so much moaning the OH will listen too and I know you are all hear to symathise with me.. x It's my 3rd day off not smoking now and am so proud of myself, it's more than i've ever managed before without nicotine replacement, even when i had flu i would still force myself to smoke... sad i know but hey ho.... Welcome -SD- i agree you should maybe take a look at the first few pages of this forum as jabberwoky was very honest about what he went through when taking the champix, it was 1 of the reasons i joined this forum, Good luck to you though and we are all here experiencing the same thing. Oh yes had the most bizzare dream last night.. we lived in toytown (Noddy) everything was cartoon apart from us, very strange.... still better than nightmares. -SD- Â Â 10 #3587 Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks for the welcomes, i've read the first 38pages or so took me ages, but Jabber had me hooked!!!!!! Â I've decided on day 12 as my quit day last cig on day 11 just because it falls in the middle of 8-14, i was going to leave it til day 14 to make sure the champix levels are high in my system but i'm back at the smoking cessation clinic that day and i'd feel bad if i broke the carbon monoxide meter again!!!! Â Had a problem getting to sleep last night but i can't attribute that to champix as i have problems sleeping at the best of times. Â Well done Ophelia and indeed everyone else, your all an inspiration to me!
 Share this content via...
