MysticKegs   10 #14 Posted February 8, 2007 Cant help wondering why these farmers markets & local produce shops are always lots more expensive than Tesco's. To me there is a slight whiff of exploitation of the consumer who wants to do the right thing. Why does a bit of cow sold in a shop next to the field it grew up in cost twice as much as a bit from the other side of the world. I know about economies of scale etc but this cant be the whole reason. Then the farmers moan that people dont buy local produce. Sell it at Tesco prices or below and they would be glad to. Meaks   11 #15 Posted February 8, 2007 Do they sell wood pigeons?  I bought one from Chatsworth once and roasted it. What a waste of time that was.
 Share this content via...
ssctas   10 #16 Posted February 8, 2007 Just to say they sell locally produced pork as well as beef and lamb reared on the farm as well as lovely sausages and some veg. The meat is lovely, it's a great thing to support and yes they do take credit/debit cards.
 Share this content via...
