fnkysknky
Just seen this post while looking at Comodo forums about using a limited account in Windows as opposed to an admin account - there's also a link to an MSDN article that's home to a program that you can use to run programs with reduced user rights which is good for security conscious who'd rather run most of their programs with limited rights but still need to be logged in as an admin. http://forums.comodo.com/index.php/topic,4508.0.html Very good advice and would help reduce any damage caused by malware

fnkysknky
Granted many people already follow good practice and do what's in the post or similar. Many more though have absolutely no idea that admin and limited accounts exist in XP never mind the differences

Guest
I think MS have learned on this one and on Vista the default privileges aren't admin
fnkysknky
MS have changed it for Vista but seeing as though many people won't be switching to Vista anytime soon it's still a helpful read. In a normal admin account in Vista you have to tell programs to run as administrator as far as I understand it. The default admin account though may let programs run as admin without you having to give express permission. Never got round to installing the release candidate of it so not had a hands on look yet.
