I recon it's where the bottom of Manor Lane meets with Cricketin Rd with the old Steadfast works was just before the bend at the bottom of the Lane

You are right tenbob, it is looking from east to west along Cricketinn road & the 90 degree bend was adjacent to the slag heap. This was just before the first part of the parkway was opened to link to Manor lane. Before the Parkway was opened you had to drive through Darnal to get to the city from Aston/Handsworth. Then they used some of the slag to fill the base of the Parkway to the City.

I used to drive that way to work when I was 16/17 in my 1962 Mini which was my first car.
