Steel Bone Corsetry 2 day course

 

at : Sew in the City - The Sheffield Sewing Lounge

The Nichols Building Antique, arts & craft centre

 

Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2013

 

A 2 day workshop constructing a single layer overbust steel boned corset, an essential fashion item suitable for under or outerwear.

Students will be given a brief history on corsets and how they work before going on to learn all about the basics of single layer corset construction.

Learn how to insert a busk front closure, steel boning and boning channels, eyelet insertion for lacing at the back, suitability of fabrics and fitting.

Students do not have to be an experienced seamstress however a good working knowledge of basic sewing machine techniques is required and the ability to sew a straight line as stitching lines will be visible.

Students will come away with a well crafted, shape altering garment that can reduce the waist size by 2 – 4 inches and give good bust support.

Date: Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2013

Time: 11:15 - 5pm ( lunch break )

Cost: £165.00 per person

Experianced Tutor

Whats included:

Corset pattern, 1m herringbone coutil fabric, 1 busk fastener, flat and spiral boning with end caps, 1 eyelet kit, cotton corset lacing, bias binding.

 

 

Sewing machines and equipment provided.
