Young & teen designers stitch club Approved learning destination in the city Due to demand we have launched 2 more classes Saturdays fortnightly 9.15-10.45 & 1.30-3 pm must be 8 years + All abilities welcome , we teach sewing skills and create projects from hand sewing to sewing machine basics. Each block of classes run in 10 week blocks and cover dressmaking, interiors, accessorie making and more. Located in our dedicated sewing house (sew in the city, 119 west bar) informal and relaxing studios let us inspire you. Cost £8 per session all materials provided. Hi sew in the city have moved into new premises , we are located next door to the emergency services museum on West Bar round about. We have 3 floors of studios dedicated to sewing including our sewing studio, cutting studio. , drinks lounge and party studio. We also have a small fabric boutique on the ground floor which is growing on a weekly basis. We run classes in dressmaking, patchwork, sewing machine basics, free machine embroidery , corsetry, bra making , lampshade creation and many more. We run adult drop in sessions every Wednesday evening 6.30-8.30 pm and young & teen designers stitch club saturdays fortnightly We are open mon- sun for classes and retail is open Wednesday 11-6 pm and Saturdays 11-4 pm. Sew in the city are hiring there fully equipped sewing lounge out to tutors and craft groups for pop up workshops and weekly classes. Weekly day hire from £35 per day 11-5 pm , weekends £70 per day. Ha no sew in the city isn't for the over 70s , we cater for everyone and if you ask most of our 25-35 year olds I'm sure they will tell you they had a great time at our hen parties. But If Blackpool and binge drinking floats your boat then go for it lol Thanks we have a dedicated sewing lounge , open tue to sun 11-5 but if we ever need a backup we will keep you in mind thanks

Steel Bone Corsetry 2 day course at : Sew in the City - The Sheffield Sewing Lounge The Nichols Building Antique, arts & craft centre Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May 2013 A 2 day workshop constructing a single layer overbust steel boned corset, an essential fashion item suitable for under or outerwear. Students will be given a brief history on corsets and how they work before going on to learn all about the basics of single layer corset construction. Learn how to insert a busk front closure, steel boning and boning channels, eyelet insertion for lacing at the back, suitability of fabrics and fitting. Students do not have to be an experienced seamstress however a good working knowledge of basic sewing machine techniques is required and the ability to sew a straight line as stitching lines will be visible. Students will come away with a well crafted, shape altering garment that can reduce the waist size by 2 – 4 inches and give good bust support.
