Chinese new year - will restaurants be open?

Well, Sunday is the official day. I think some restaurants will have live entertainment such as the traditional 'Lion Dance' in their restaurant for like half hour. (It's a cultural thing to bless the business with prosperity blah blah blah.) So... if you want to see this kind of event, ask whether they do this when u book the table. Some restaurants do it, and some don't. The ones that are fully booked is because of this reason really. Some may do a special menu because of this too. You can also ask when u ring up.

Btw, not sure if you are interested in this instead.

It's a celebration for CNY in the City Hall. They usually have some kind of food stalls too. So u can try different things.
