For the forthcoming season the Sheffield Junior Football league are piloting a change to the format for the under 11 age group.

Instead of playing 11 a-side as what would normally happen, they will be playing 9 a-side with the objective of trying to improve the technique of the kids, as opposed to the physical requirements needed currently.

This will come in nationally the following season, so the league is to be commended for introducing it earlier.

In practical terms though what has happened is that (partly due to additional funding) a lot of existing teams have opted to have two teams next season, which in practical terms means they needed an additional 5 or more players.

The result of this is that a lot of clubs are struggling to find the players needed to get the team up and running, and this is a request for parents whose child might be looking for a team to contact the person identified in this thread.

Hopefully, clubs looking for players will submit their details on here and parents will then be able to contact them.

I know another thread exists in the Sport section, but I’d ask that Mods leave this on here as it reaches another audience in what is a very good cause.

For the record Hillsborough Pumas Orange team are after two more players (not goalkeepers) for next season.

We will be playing at Hillsborough Arena on a Sunday; we currently train on a Monday evening in Hillsborough Park with two F.A qualified coaches taking the lads.

Other key information for parents is the costing. During Pre-season it costs a pound a week which covers training and matches and when the season starts it is £4 per week which covers the pitch, registration, referee, training and kit (Orange and Black).

Thanks for reading, if there are any other clubs who might not be able to get a full team up then please let me know and we’ll consider taking some of their players on (and coaching staff if they wish) on 07788805629
