This year, it's a toss up between Prague and Krakow, but the best night out ever was probably in the bars of Madrid.

 

There were so many of them and they were right up my street, so many rock bars, it was like the old Wap but better.

in days long gone by, when i did my nurse training in london, we used to go to a fabulous pub called the spice of life, just of shaftsbury avenue i think. it was painted completely black inside, with black floorboards...and played rock/punk at alarming volumes.

 

this was in the late 80's.

 

went to a class reunion in the early/mid 90's and it had been turned into a kitsch lounge bar...with flowery settees and brass lamps.

me and my mate just stood there and gawped in disbeleif for about 5 minutes.

we were absolutely gutted.
