House electrics query

Recommended Posts

The house needs re-wiring : in the meantime I'm patching up, here and there.

The latest is the bathroom light : it packed up and I found that there was about 90 volts across the wires, at the light.

I changed the ceiling pull switch -antique - and put in a 2 way switch.

At the light there are 1 black wire and 2 joined black wires - the same as at the switch.

I put the single wire in common and the 2 joined wires in L1. Now, in one position I can use the bedroom lights and in the other, I cannot.

The bathroom light says on in both positions !
