Trouble10 Â Â 10 #1 Posted April 28, 2008 My Cat is about to give birth in about 2 weeks. I have bought books to understand what will happen and what I need to do to help her but if anyone has any advice, tips or information it would be greatly appreciated as its good to hear things from people who have actually been through this with their cat. Any info would be great, especially how long the kittens need to stay with the Mum until they can be rehomed as I have heard all sorts of different times. medusa   16 #2 Posted April 28, 2008 Please feel free to PM me to ask any questions you may have- I'm a kitten foster carer for South Yorkshire Animal Rescue and have had many years of kitten caring.  Kittens wean about 4 weeks (5 if they're held back by illness), can be separated from their mum at about 6-8 weeks if they are all healthy and happy (and staying together as a litter for a little while longer), vaccinations at 9 and 12 weeks and going to new homes shortly after that.  Some people separate them earlier, but I prefer to give them the best start that I can.
