  1. The picture shows roughly where I was under taken and the car in front overtaken on the wrong side of the road. I was not on the dual carriageway by Millhouses I was much further back near town. Here there are two lanes but not enough room in the middle of the day for two lanes and traffic to move freely due to parked cars. I was simply saying what my experience was and that yes I can drive on a road and understand the rules of a dual carriageway. As this isn't a dual carriageway I was highlighting how dangerous some drivers are. :)

Please reread, there were two cars but not both were undertaken.

  2. Outside Millhouses Park?

But the Op said they were undertaken. Two cars. In which case there must have been a lane available that both of them should have been in.

  3. Would I be wrong to suggest you were both in the wrong lane then?

    Dual carriageways

A dual carriageway is a road which has a central reservation to separate the carriageways.

On a two-lane dual carriageway you should stay in the left-hand lane. Use the right-hand lane for overtaking or turning right. After overtaking, move back to the left-hand lane when it is safe to do so.

This is Abbeydale Road, defiantly not a dual carriageway.

  4. Any reason why you were undertaken?

No, just driving with the traffic, there was only one other car in front and both driving at the road speed. They came bombing up behind us. Engine roaring, undertook us in the bus lane narrowly missing a parked car and the over took the car in front again narrowly dodging oncoming traffic. All this to turn right at the junction just before the traffic lights before mini Tesco going out of town.

  5. His Sister was in the taxi, a car overtook them, missed the taxi by inches then flipped over. His sister is fine thankfully, just a little shaken up.

Oh my...there is some awful driving on Abbeydale Road. Over the last few weeks I have been undertaken and then the car in front overtaken by young men driving at ridiculous speeds in the middle of the day, off road quad bikes driving onto pavements to undertake us at traffic lights by teens, no helmets, again driving off at speed. It's ridiculous and so dangerous. Glad his sister is ok. I'm also glad I didn't come round the corner a minute earlier. This could have been a very different end result.

  6. It happened just before I came round the bend. Missed it by about a minute. There were alot of people on the scene helping people out of the car, comforting children and calling emergancy services. I pulled over but wasn't any help. Couldn't see if anyone was stuck but alot of very upset people. I genuinely can't understand how they have managed to overturn the car and end up in someones front garden. Just wonder if the rain had made the road slippy. I just hope everyone involved is ok.

just see update on sheffield online. Disgusting if he was drunk. There were children in the house he nearly hit.

  7. He's still not down but is now 5/6 meters from the base and has access to food and water. He's got a ladder and platform about 50cm from where he's sat to climb onto. I can't quite reach him as I'm too short and don't want either of us to fall. RSPCA also felt he could come down on own accord just needs him to go down and not back up as he did earlier today. Will keep you posted. Many thanks.

He's down!! Went out again at 6am this morning. He'd finally managed to get onto the platform but not down the ladder. After scaling the ladder I managed to coax him onto the second rung and grab him. He's now reacquainting himself with our other cat whose had the run of the house since Sunday! Thank you for all your help and suggestions. He's not going out for a few days now!

  8. Follow the instructions given by the RSPCA, but if you've had no joy in a day or so then ring them again. Most cats do manage to get down on their own. Good luck.

Thank you Dragoness and Squiggs , have spoken to RSPCA and they have been helpful. He's still up there but hoping he might have a go at coming down for food.

  9. We're just on our way back to Sheffield as our friends who have been looking after our cats have just found one of them stuck 100ft up a tree in the woods behind our house. I can only assume he's chased a squirrel or been spooked by a dog or fox. The RSPCA have suggeated leaving food at the base of the tree. Accrding to our friends the tree is very straight and tall with few branches on the way up. We're not quite sure what to do but if anyone knows any budding climbers who like saving cats please PM me. We'remin Millhouses, S7. Many thanks for any ideas or previous successful experiences.
