  1. Unfortunatly not as I was on my way home from work so no camera. Pass that way every few days so i'll take the camera back and take a couple for ya
  2. Went down it on Friday, nothing to see. It's just an old inspection chamber for a drain/ sewer by the looks. It appears the pikeys have been burning the insulation off of copper wire down there as I got covered in soot and remnents of wire remain.
  3. Send me a message on here and I can meet you up there. If you don't mind that is
  4. Cheers fella! Any idea if the site was a covered reservoir at some point?
  5. Sounds like my kind of place. Contemplating digging it out if it's worth the effort. That and if we know where to dig!
  6. Visited the shelter on Midhurst road today. Unfortunately a load of earth has been dumped in front of what we reckon would've been the entrance. Can anyone confirm this from the (poor) pictures below? Two concrete posts off to the left of the picture: http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab269/adamemorgan/Sheff%20forum/30122010066.jpg Again, the posts at the end of the dry stone wall: http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab269/adamemorgan/Sheff%20forum/30122010065.jpg The posts appear to be central to the mound on the side facing the chimneys. Also, on the OS maps the area is shown as being a reservoir (see below, pretty much central to the map.) Any ideas? http://www.bing.com/maps/?v=2&cp=53.42240598639955~-1.5041911292062426&lvl=15&dir=0&sty=s&eo=0
  7. Yup, been in there this year. Quite a decent little place. Both manholes have been welded shut now though so someone's obviously been caught going in.
  8. Never noticed the others near the bridge, I'll be passing tomorrow though on the way to check out a possible air raid shelter so it's given me something else to spy at
  9. Would that be this one? http://www.sheffieldhistory.co.uk/forums/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=4271 (you may have to sign into the forums to see picture) I went in here quite a while ago but there is a padlocked metal gate over it now,
  10. I know the guys who found this place but unfortunately I wasn't with them on that occasion. Having spoken to a few people and to where these tunnels are, I've an idea that these tunnels would meet up with the tunnels under the fire museum at West bar (see http://www.thestar.co.uk/headlines/Secret-tunnels-found-beneath-city.4227308.jp ). I've spoken to a guy called Mat at the museum who's willing to show me what's left of the tunnels (the owners if the neighbouring building decided to fill in what was under the property in for whatever reason) and which way they face on street level so there'll hopefully be more information to come.
  11. I've heard of plenty in Sheffield but no one seems to be able to pinpoint them. I'm guessing most will probably have been built on or blocked up now but there must be one somewhere. I know some in the country are accessible via man holes (one in Stockport is known to be like by a very few of us however we're yet to find it and popping over to look for it isn't exactly a half hours drive) I've got plans of looking at a couple of ROTOR bunkers when I'm travelling out thier way. I do believe Goldsborough is sadly flooded also.
  12. Now that looks interesting. I'll go have a look at that over the next couple of days. Thanks for that!
  13. Thanks for the replies. I'm more interested in large underground shelters though. I've been in a large one over in Stockport (see http://www.28dayslater.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=54105 ) but I'd would like to find one in Sheffield.
  14. ETERNALDAVE - What premises were you looking at? Currently trying to find WW2 shelters and tunnels.
