  2. Thanks for all that info, will be very useful. At the starting point of the project at the moment, and am particularly interested in looking into the impact that university and council policy on directing students and developers towards purpose-built student accommodation eg. OPAL and UNITE developments has on the local community - i.e. whether it resolves any of these issues! Thanks again
  3. well thanks for the warm welcome everybody, apologies if some mistakes in getting started with this forum have upset a few people. not every student is out to cause offence.
  4. Also, does anybody have any details or info regarding specific areas where there is a reasonable balance between student and non-student residents? i.e. not completely taken over by students!
  5. Hi, I'm a student at the University of Sheffield and am interested in investigating into the impacts that students have on the local environment and community. I am particularly keen on the impact that students in private rented housing have on local communities. I am therefore enquiring whether there are any residents from Eccleshall Road and Hunters Bar or any other nearby residents who would be keen to help me in my research by participating in either questionnaires, interviews or focus groups? Of if anybody knew of any relevant community groups or other interest groups? The research would be carried out in the coming months and would be confidential. If there is any interest out there that would be great. Thanks, Martin
  6. Hi, I'm a student at the University of Sheffield and am interested in investigating into the impacts that students have on the local environment and community. I am particularly keen on the impact that nearby student halls such as Opal have on non-student residents, such as those at Edward Street. I am therefore enquiring whether there are any residents from Edward Street flats or any other nearby residents who would be keen to help me in my research by participating in either questionnaires, interviews or focus groups? Of if anybody knew of any relevant community groups or other interest groups? The research would be carried out in the coming months and would be confidential. If there is any interest out there that would be great. Thanks, Martin
