  1. its the best signal, and even better with t-mobile. but the last few months the masts have degraded to 2G somehow. half will be fixed by 22nd July (so they say) and the rest in August.
  2. If you guys are on facebook find Orange Helper and mention where you are that has no signal, maybe if we all mention it it will get done quicker! The "E" meand EDGE - its a faster connection than 2G/GPRS but slower than 3G. And if youre lucky enough to get a H that is 3.5G connection!
  3. "Degraded means that a site is still handling calls, but is not operating at it's normal level. Depending on the nature of the problem, this may take between hours, days, weeks or months to fully resolve. When one site is degraded, this may then increase demand on other sites nearby as traffic which would have gone through the degraded site is re-routed. In the S2 and S3 area, there are three transmitters which are currently degraded, which may be intermittently affecting both voice and data traffic in the area. Our engineers are working on these sites and estimate that one should be back to full capacity by 11 July 2011, however, they do not yet have an eta for when the other sites will be back in full service. I hope this helps."
  4. Sorry for delayed reply I've been messaged from Orange Helpers via facebook "It looks like the main transmitter which covers your postcode is currently degraded. Our engineers are working on this, however, they are currently unable to give an eta for when this work will complete." Which has just lead me to ask further questions like how and why etc. And I've said its not just S8, its S2 and S3 at least... i will post their reply.
  5. Well im in Beauchief now, but when i was it was better than here. But like i said, im not having too much of an issue.. but for some reason othe people seem to. but on a side note, i thought Sheff was ace coz its got 3G basically everywhere... went on trips to Manc and York recently and theyve got that high speed internet, faster than 3G that give a little "H" instead of "3G" or "E"... when are we gonna properly get high speed internet?!
  6. yeah I'm sharing networks, which helps a lot, as i get Orange signal all round my house, but in it i get orange-t-mob!
  7. Thanks guys. I cant seem to find some sorta megabus/ coach effort. so either splitting the journey, or getting a bus to buxton etc seems the best ways. i'll look into to these, thanks :-)
  8. i have also been with Orange since 1999 i think. (except for one year i went to t-mob back in the day when their signal was garbage) and I've never had a problem with signal untl recently. But for me, i can still make calls and never drop out, and can still connect to 2G or 3G internet... its just not as good as i was. (although might be experiencing some missed calls that dont ring but when that has happened ive been out in the garden, but i would have thought i heard it, but quite possibly not). but something to do with virgin media on the masts and making Orange go funny. Although Virgin use t-mobile, so surely its a t-mobile problem.. but then shouldnt we be on Orange-T-mob half the time then? It confuses me a bit, and I'm a phone geek! But apparently its happened in 5 other places, so 6 places in total. I'll find out more.
  9. Wait. It's not your phone. I'm at my mtes house, all 3 of us are with orange and we were having this very convo! My friends rung orange about this. Just orange masts are fine. But orange and virgin masts have an issue. Which is why some areas are unaffected and some have 3G death. She's been told to go 2g for perfect signal, albeit slow internet connections.
  10. Its is when you have a dodgy knee :-( it can probably cope with an hours drive at a time, so i'd be as long as the train journey!
  11. I don't want to do the drive over there and back in a whole day, so I'm thinking public transport for my day trip. All the train site are saying £36.30 for a return. I was just wondering if anyone knows of anything cheaper. I'm going next week, so advance-ness is out the window kinda! Thanks.
  12. theres also a shisha cafe near the West End Pub. And one on Brook Hill.
  13. I've not had the ribs, but I've eaten other foods there... Sw.anky Franks in Woodseats! All made on the premise and is tastyyy. Mmm.. now youve made me want ribs.
