  9. We think that traditionally the term "playgroup" applied to childcare sessions where you could leave your preschool children for a couple of hours, as we (Endcliffe Playgroup) still do today, but they are becoming increasingly rare. Apparently the setting up of playgroups was encouraged in the 70s and they were sometimes run from park pavilions and even from individual homes. We think now that our group was set up in the early 70s and was called "University Playgroup" so anyone with any memories of this group we'd love to hear from you. Thanks for your input.
  10. We are doing some research into our playgroup and I wonder if anyone of the forum has any memories about our group or can help us piece together our story. From research so far we believe our group was set up in the 1970s, run from St Augustine's Church and was then moved in the 1990s to our current venue in Endcliffe Methodist Church. We must have helped a lot of families and children in these forty years! Did you go to the group in either venue, or send your children to the group? Do you have any memories of the ladies who have run it over the years, or what it was like? Maybe you know when and why it was set up? Any memories would be gratefully received as we try to work out if we are the oldest playgroup in Sheffield!
  11. It's today! Please come along and a) buy bargains for kids and b)eat cake
  12. Just a reminder about our event on Saturday. All the tables are now filled with brilliant bargains!
