  1. This years Big Boulder Music & Arts Festival takes place at Heeley Peoples Park on Sunday.   3. Heeley Park hosts the 2014 Big Boulder Music and Arts Festival tomorrow between 12pm – 6.30pm. The third annual music and arts festival has been organised by Big Boulder Promotions to feature live performances from Dave Formula and the Finks and Phil ‘Swill’ Odgers, celebrating 30 years of The Men They Couldn’t Hang. There will also be appearances by Tandem, the Silver Darlings, the Julian Jones Band and Bright Lights. The festival is free for the whole community, and will be offering quality food and real ale, craft stalls, arts workshops and open access exhibitions by artists working across a variety of mediums.   4. The Heeley Park Team will be holding a Winter Crafts Workshop at the Heeley Institute on Saturday, February 15th. The family-friendly workshop will include kite-making and flying with the Community Kite Project, and winter-themed painting with ‘Artists in the Making’, a locally-based company that provides art and digital photography workshops for kids. There will also be a whittling demonstration, and youngsters will be able to create creatures with sticks collected from the park. Hot drinks and snacks will be available throughout the Winter Crafts Workshop, which takes place between 12noon – 3pm. Entrance and participation is completely free.   5. the old Anns Grove School (now called Sum Studios) will be open tomorrow as part of the Heritage Open Day weekend. You can look inside the first building completed on the site (Sum B) and find out more about what's planned the other two buildings - plus the new Anns Grove School is open too and Heeley History will be there with books and displays.   6. Shakespeare is truly sustainable in his 1st ever fully ‘green’ tour. 4 actors on 4 bikes are travelling 926 miles across the UK performing two of his greatest plays. Come and see a unique, bicycle powered, performance of Twelfth Night when the tour stops off at Recycle Bikes, Heeley. ‘Pay what you can’ entrance fee.   8. Last Sunday (2nd December) 2 sets of swings were stolen from Heeley Millennium Park . It looks like they have been stolen to be used elsewhere as one of each type of swing has been taken. We really want them to be returned so if you see any new looking swings (on an older looking frame) please let us know - info@heeleypark.org or 0114 2500613 The seats have KOMPAN written on them.   10. On Saturday (22nd Sept) there will be a free live music event in Heeley Millennium Park. 'The Big Boulder' kicks off at 12.30pm and will feature some fantastic bands - plus there will be great food and a beer tent! The line-up and more details are here > The Big Boulder

  12. Thanks for the good comments the weather did spoil it a little but we were really grateful that everybody came to the Festival - the bits in between the downpours were fantastic!
  13. BIG thanks to everybody that came to the festival yesterday, It was another fantastic turnout and all the community organisations involved in organising the event were really grateful that people ignored the weather forecasts and made the effort to come along

  22. Hi Leanne, there is still time to book in to the Heeley Festival (23rd June) if you can make it.
  23. Starting this week, Heeley Development Trust are working in partnership with Sheffield Wildlife Trust to run a series of environmental activity sessions in Heeley Millennium Park. The sessions will be for children aged 8-13 and will be an opportunity for them to get up close to nature and to get their hands dirty! There will be all sorts of fun stuff – bug hunting, willow weaving, kite making and leaf printing to name just a few. So if you’re a parent with children aged between 8 to 13 and think that they would enjoy getting involved, please tell them to come down and join in! (Note: younger children are welcome to come down but we ask that parents/carers come too). These sessions will be on the following dates and times, we will meet by the Millennium Park playground and will be FREE of charge: Wednesday June 13th 3.30pm to 5.30pm Wednesday June 20th 3.30pm – 5.30pm Wednesday June 27th 3.30pm – 5.30pm Dont worry if they cant attend all of the sessions, they can just drop in on the ones that they can make.   24. There are free activities taking place in Heeley Millennium Park during the Spring Bank Holidays. Turn up on the Park between 12 - 3pm on Wednesday 6th and/or Thursday 7th to get involved in an Olympics/Heeley Festival themed Flag Making Workshop or if you would prefer something a little more energetic then there will be sports activities taking place on Taggys Field. No need to book - just drop in on the day.
