  1. Well that helps really because I like sickrage. The hardware i'm running with at the moment is a HP proliant N40l with 4gb(ebay) which works fine when not trying to transcode certain mkv's. This has two hdd's; a 500GB drive the server came with and a 3TB WD Red(again from ebay). At some point I will buy another 3TB but i'm using just one for now whilst I learn. I have to say I have had all of the plugins working all at the same time but the issue came with couch potato. The plugin wasn't correctly renaming and moving my files at all... there were what felt like a ton of permission issues. After searching around I came across the following article (https://goo.gl/fL1kUF) which is well written but mentions topics about how some jails access certain storage that you set up which confuses me slighty and also setting up each jail to access that certain storage folders. Then i couldn't get ssh to work for the 5th millionth time lol...... This is why I need to pick your brains for bit I think.
  2. Ok thanks for this. Part of me likes the idea of whizzy stuff because even though i'm having issues with freenas i'm learning loads, but i'm having issues getting my head around getting ssh to actually work and the difference between storage and jails and entering jails to create storage etc. i used this guide originally but got to ssh and gave up as I have never had it consistantly working: https://www.zufallsheld.de/2013/11/22/freenas-transmission-couchpotato-sickbeard-dlna-server/#using-putty-to-enter-your-freenas I have already started loading data onto my hdd. Is it possible to use an existing pool from freenas into nas4free(probably not). If not i don't mind formatting and just going again to get it right if nas4free is going to do what I need it to do which is set up transmission with couchpotato sickrage and plex. thanks again
  3. Hi, This is a but I'd a long shot but I've just recently set up my own server using freenas. I'm an absolute beginner but know my way round a computer. I'm looking to basically pick someone's brains about the freenas platform and help me to get my server up and running and to understand some of the complex topics. Ive tried loads of guides and YouTube tutorials but I'm just still struggling with it. If there's anyone local who had used it set up freenas feel free to get in contact please. Thanks
  4. Thanks for your help guys, i tethered my mobile phone to my computer (as tier suggested) so I was at least able to send emails. Luckily because I placed myself on the preference list when i made my order, someone cancelled their installation and I received a phone call on Friday and now have my virgin media package installed. thanks again.
  5. Hi, Recently I have ended my contract with a local broadband provider called origin broadband and decided to go with Virgin Media. The problem I have is that the work is not scheduled to be done until the 2nd of September. Unfortunately I watch all my tv via internet streaming and I am also unable to complete work as part of my job (teacher). Virgin media have placed me on a 'priority list', but I was hoping that if anyone knows an engineer or if you are one, whether we could get something arranged. The installation if free but I'm quite willing to give you £50 to get it done. Please private message me for further details.
  6. Hi, I am looking for some computer donations for a school I work in. The computers do not have to be anything special. They just need to preferably work... What I am aiming to do is taken them apart with the kids and put them back together and get them working. If you know someone who has a few computers they won't be using please private message me. Sometimes companies turn out old computers in place of brand new ones and I would like to recycle them for an educational use. Thanks

I have very basic maths skills and I am willing to put a great deal of hours into the tution to pass the tests. Please private message me if you are a maths tutor and can help or your know of someone who can.
  9. Great.. I tell everyone.. If it means i get a faster speed I'd happily pay for it! Unfortunately I pay about £20 a month to sky and they provide an awful service.
  10. Wow... these guys look promising!! exactly what I have been looking for. I knew of other broadband providers but never come across these.. I will give them a call and see if they can solve my issue.
  11. I'm too far away aswell... it's a real shame because there is a huge focus on getting high speed broadband to rural areas, and yet 5 mins from town we don't have it either.
  12. The question was whether anyone else in the area suffered from the same problem... I'm guessing you don't live on city road, so you don't have the answer to the question I originally asked.
  13. My employer is.... me! I have my own business. Good try though.
  14. You should team up with the other guy who needs to learn to read... because you might need a lesson or two in spelling.
