Thanks to all that replied, The laptop started to run slow and then would only boot up so far then shut down, as far as I can remember. I took it to friend of a friend who said that the harddrive was broke, he described it as "he could hear the harddrive clicking when it got so far into the reboot so he replaced it with a different one", the laptop works ok now. The friend says hes tried to get the data off but needs some software called (RAID) or something like that, so the harddrive is out of the laptop. My question is can the data be taken off the discs or the discs transferred to another harddrive unit, Any ideas anyone. Thanks Stef..

I have been told that my hard drive is broke and there is important work on it that I need, Can anyone tell me if the hard drive discs can be transferred to another driver or the work taken off it. Laptop is a Lenovo ideapad U410 running win 8. Any help would be great.. Thanks Stef.
