Childhood illnesses, jabs and operations

Just wishing you all the very best with it. I didnt have the same experience but my boy was born with a critical heart condition and has had open heart surgery 2 times, I think it is very much a case of taking it an hour or a day at a time and trusting and praying, and looking after yourself/getting support so you have the energy to look after your little ones. Take care x -
Mums, when did you return to work after baby?
suryamonro replied to Birth-Peace's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
He was 4 1/2 months, I expressed milk for him for a couple of months and my then partner looked after him until 7 months, then into nursery which I had to take him out of because he got infections all the time, then with a friend for a couple of months then to a nursery which did work out. I started back 2.5 days a week then a bit later 4 days. I would love to work less but am now a single parent and cant afford to, I miss spending more time for him and no way is he as happy at nursery as with me or his dad. The only advantage is that I have managed to hold my career position rather than being demoted or being unable to get back into work. Roll on such a time as when the government decides to pay full maternity/paternity pay for a whole year. It should be a real choice for mums or dads to stay at home with babies rather than being forced to work. My relationship cracked under the stress of me working/hefty commute (4 hours round trip)/having a child with serious health problems/my then partner working night shifts etc. If they are serious about supporting families they need more family-friendly policies. -
thanks for that, think I missed it

New 3 year old in Holt House catchment seeks buddies
suryamonro replied to suryamonro's topic in Sheffield Parenting Group
Hiya, in response to the last post, we're just below Brincliffe Edge in Netheredge/Carterknowle. We'd be glad to meet other kiddies outside of this area too. But Mum says she works afternoons during the week so wont be able to make the drop in seshion, thanks anyway -
Hi, my name is Thomas and I am just 3. My mum is writing this for me (!) I have only recently moved to Sheffield and I'd really like to make some new buddies to go to the park with and suchlike. It would be particularly nice to meet some of the boys and girls I'll be going to school with when I get bigger Thomas

Hi, saw your post - my boy (now a lively happy almost-three year old) has had two open heart surgeries, it has been incredibly hairy and I think that first 'oh my god I cant believe there's something wrong' is the worst bit, but honestly I am sure your baby will be fine and just know you're not the only one, we do get through and life goes on. All best wishes Surya
