  1. Hi,

Found a ginger and white cat roaming just off airedale road in Middlewood / Wadsley. She's in fiarly bad condition with matted fur and no fur to the ends of her tail and appears to be very thin / malnutritioned. She's been trying to follow me home for about a week now and today I finally let her in.

Just wondering if anyone in the area has lost a pet recently. She's been wearing a "staywell" collar that appears to have been on for a very long time. We're not supposed to have cats in our house but she looks so unwell I've brought her in and fed / watered her.

I'm gonna take her to the vet to try to see if she has a microchip tomorrow but after that I've no idea what to do.

    Thanks

    Kai

  2. A life sentence is always for life but a lifer can service the latter part out of prison on licence:

"A Life Sentence Licence applies to any person serving a life sentence who will be released from custody on licence. An individual must comply with the conditions of his licence in order to remain in the community and not be returned to custody. Conditions of a licence may include, for example, being placed under the supervision of a nominated Probation Officer, not changing a place of residence or employment without the consent of a Probation Officer, and keeping in contact with a Probation Officer in accordance with instructions"

I don't believe he should be given the chance. Why should he be given the chance to even try and form a normal life?? His victims will never have a normal life, they'll suffer for the rest of their days. The pain will lessen, but it'll still be there, in the back of their head, no matter what they do.

Why should he be allowed out? Ever!

  3. Further to Epiphany's post about how its great to be single, I want to start a thread which says that I'm really happy I'm in a relationship.

I love coming home to cuddles and a cuppa, having those comfortable silences where you're just happy with each others company, having someone there who makes you laugh till you cry, pokes fun at you but would kill anyone else who did the same.

What do all the other coupled up forummers like about being in a relationship? What is it that your partner does that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, and glad to be alive?

  4. Haven't been in ages cos my friends and I like a pool table, but now the Dove has one again, we'll definitely start going back!

Been going for years, and its still one of the friendliest pubs in town, has one of the best atmospheres, and I've got so many great memories of going in for "a pint" of Old Rosie with my mum and stumbling home about 6 hours later :D

  5. Pretty much inevitable. The parole board is made up of humans, not gods; they will never have a perfect record. Doubtless there are people who are no longer a threat but don't get out, as well.

I do get what you mean, I just think that there are certain types of crime which should mean you don't get that chance.

Maybe it should. I just wanted to point out that it DOESN'T. We don't have a "go to jail until you die" sentence in this country.

OK, I misread you there, sorry, thought you were saying that there shouldn't be. Emotive subject I guess. There definitely should. Why should someone who wrecks someone else's life be able to go out and ever live theirs again. Even if they feel remorse, they should accept the fact that they committed this crime and so take their punishment. This man doesn't ever deserve to go free, "rehabilitated" or no.

Where was his wife/partner when this was going on. Surely she must have known as her daughters kept having children, How could she just have turned a blind eye.

Its not quite as simple as that. Would you want to believe your husband was doing this to your children or would you look for any other logical alternative.

This woman is probably beside herself, blaming herself for what happened. Its all well and good to look at these things with hindsight, but the type of men that carry out these crimes are good at lying, good at controlling people and good at creating a veneer of respectability.

  6. Metal again for me. Not something Slayer / Thrash metally, cos I'd fall over within 5 minutes, but something with a good beat. I really don't think I could put my MP3 player on Shuffle, as it'd go from something really heavy and fast to folk music to canticles to doom metal, and I don't think i could cope with the constant change in pace.

  7. Reduced to come into line with a sentence for "serious murders"? In that case the sentence for murder should be increased.

The justice system in this country is a joke. That man should NEVER, EVER be allowed to walk free. This kind of man will NEVER stop. Its an addiction to him. I hope that judge knows that by reducing the sentence and letting this $&*$^% walk free in 14 years, he's more then likely condemned another young girl to misery.

I hope he can live with himself.
