  1. I have been to sharkey's once and it seems to be a cocktail bar, but not very classy in my opinion. The cocktails although being well thought of and interesting, are expensive and this could put off alot of customers, expecially students. the decor seems to be very bright and modern, with a dancefloor which wasnt used while i was there. If i was wanting to go to a later licensed bar, this wouldnt be my choice, i am a big fan of The Harley (opposite HSBC @university tramstop) although some people consider it to be another expensive bar, it has been refurbished and the introduction of some new offers have certainly improved the drinks on offer. Also the introduction of a range of DJ's playing a good selection of music, this is also added to with band night on a Monday, local and out of town bands rocking the whole bar. I have noticed, that lately the staff have been changed, and the atmosphere and service have been greatly inproved.
  2. Yea i'd agree with that, n e way we (mutilated to perfection) play alot of gigs in sheffield at the boardwalk and grapes. check out our website for gig details, contact information and general band related stuff!!! we are always up for any gigs that get offered to us and are always looking for heavier bands to support/play with
  3. thanks next time i am down in that part of town i will again, how much are the local concils and state trying to wreck the chances of young talent.
  4. that amazes me, i never thought that there is sooo many expentuitures involed. something needs change please let me know if u guys are doin any gigs or events, we would be interested [email protected] thanks for the reply
  5. we all know sheffield has had a good music history. but one thing troubles me, as an young musician i am amazed to find that the venues for up and coming bands in sheffield are limited to 3 or 4. this is a really hinderance to bands that are dying for a gig and some exposure, if a few more places opened up sheffield could again become a big music city that the politicians want it to be. the national centre for popular music was a flop maybe that could be put to good use. Also the few venues haven't got the equipment to support the bands actually playing, we have many music shops in sheffield, why cant these join together to provide some real oppertunities for experience on a well equiped stage. please if anyone else feels like this or has any opinions on this please reply
