  1. I don't think he should be Lord Mayor because..

    1. He is too young, he has achieved nothing in life of any magnitude.

    2. He does not have long-standing connections to the city.

    3. He has not provided anything for the people of Sheffield.

    4. The recipient should be humble.

    5. He disrespects the office.

    6. He disrespects democracy.

    7. He disrespects the Royal family.

    8. He disrespects anyone who believes in borders.

    9. He has been divisive.

    10. He is terrible for race relations.

    11. He dresses like a Primark inspired Rapper.

    12. He poses about like a Love Island reject.

    13. He has brought the office into disrepute.

    14. He has brought the nation's attention to the city for the wrong reasons.

    The list is endless really.

    You are a racist and a xenophobe. I hope one day you can overcome these problems and join the human race, but I somehow doubt it.

    The time of your thinking is OVER, your thinking is old fashioned and outdated.

    Go Majid, keep stirirng up these rotten old xenophobes/racists, keep being fresh and bold, inclusive and friendly!

  2. A bunch of litter gets left behind in a (very) public space and suddenly the papers/people are all over it.

    I wish everyone would open up their eyes, this is how it is ALL OVER Sheffield now. The mindset of the majority seems to be "chuck it on the floor, someone else will pick it up"

    I don't know what can be done to change this, I just keep picking up the litter as I see it, hopefully others see me doing this and will also pick up some litter as well and ease the load.

  3. I took part in the survey, if I remember correctly it was posted on the SCC Twitter feed.

    My views, in a nutshell, were to put up Council Tax if it was being used for the correct services.

    My biggest bugbear being recycling/litter etc, and then I read this and thought "great!";

    Social care, education and waste, and recycling were identified by participants as the most important services

    And then snuck in at the end;

    It now claims to have achieved that through a variety of measures, including big savings in its waste and recycling contract with Veolia, which will result in less frequent recycling collections.

    Thanks SCC, now we don't have to worry about social care etc. because we will just drown in all the litter and tons of flytipped crap that is left around this city.

  4. Think I have seen it all now... There is a full trailer, yes trailer, full of rubbish been left at the end of Edge lane S6 Its been there all day sofa mattress the lot It really beggars belief Do you think they can DNA it to find the culprit???

    :rant:

    Not surprised at all. Last year had an entire skip and it's contents left at the bottom of my road.

    Have you reported the trailer? http://www.fixmystreet.com

  5. Amey Hallam Highways Ltd co. no. 08121168

    That is in turn owned by Aberdeen Infrastructure Partners LP. No information at all seems to be available on them , no figures and no ownership detail.

    These are all facts , no speculation.

    All interesting, however that part isn't true;

    ABERDEEN UK INFRASTRUCTURE PARTNERS LP

    Company number LP015081

    https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/LP015081/filing-history

    It just depends how far down the rabbit hole you want to go with this, there are all sorts of pension funds etc. balls deep here;

    Hampshire County Council

    BBC Pension Trust Ltd

    Kier Pension Scheme

    EU Investment Bank

    Lloyds Bank Infrastructure Partner

    and so on..

  6. A national chain of furniture retailer And beta livings is to be a kitchen showroom. No plans for the Co-op unit yet. And a new link road in from the "Aldi" end. It will be in only

    This seems dumb, a new furniture retailer next to Ikea? As for the old Betta Living shop, what makes anyone think they would do any better with kitchens, again next to Ikea who also sell kitchens?

    This is either made up, or the companies going in here will be gone within the year.

  7. My nan went into care in Oct 2015 - it was residential care in a nursing home. Whilst she did not have dementia, the home did have residents with dementia.

    <snip> I don't have anything to add, but I just wanted to say that this is the best post I have seen on SF in a long time. Well thought out, reasoned and gives the facts.

    Well done S8 Blade, you are a credit to this community.

  8. Yes, we had some lovely person dump their Mr Rubble skip on the road around the corner from us.

    What confused me is, if they had a skip lorry to move it, why dump it on the road?!

    Anyway, it was reported to the council and they had Fletchers come out and pick it up.

  9. :help:I have a bird box in my garden. It is full of bees, creating a health and safety hazard for my two young children as the bees are swarming all around it. I don't really want to kill the bees or even worse provoke them and not kill them. Any advice would be appreciated. Many thanks.

    Bee's are not a safety hazard to children. Use this time to teach them about nature, how bee's are basically the key to all our food production and what the bee's are doing.

    This should be a learning experience, not a panic moment and a rabid killing frenzy.

  10.

    And not a betting shop, £ shop or fast food outlet in sight !:)

    Nice videos, but you're kidding yourself if you don't believe the poundshop/bookies/arcarde/payday loan shops are a problem.

    Just check on Google Maps, down Fitzalan Square and Haymarket alone there are ;

    - five betting shops

    - three arcardes

    - two lots of cheapo fast food outlets

    - two payday/quick cash shops (always a great combination with arcardes and bookies, good job SCC!)

    - two cheapo crap "food" stores.

    And that's within less than a mile. There's a BIG problem there, and with the market being swept away we can only hope that the rest of these scum filled "shops" are swept away as well.

  11. Did you have to ring and get Fibre Pro? As usually then only offer fibre @ 40mb which has been one of reasons about switching to them along with the fact you are not allowed to use your own equipment

    Officially you can't use your own equipment, in reality once you have the username/password out of the Sky router you can do what you want.

    I've kept the SR102 Sky box as the modem, but as the wireless on this is utter crap I use an Asus RT56N as a wireless access point.

    Had no problems with this setup at all, 2 months uptime until the SR102 did an update last week.

  12. the allotments are considering further raises in allotment rents in a meeting later this year. (if they are going to the must tell us a year in advance ie March 2016.) Currently they are considering: no rise but less service, a small rise equivelent to inflation x 1 year or rises equivelent to inflation x 3years ie the back years of the rents freeze.

    I think the meeting is in December.

    Option 1 would be amazing, the council would have invented negative service levels, wherein we actually have to do the work for them!

    Oh, actually, we already do..

  13. Who pays for anti-virus software? There's plenty of great free anti-virus software out there, even the Windows Security Essentials pack is better than nothing at all!

    I use Avast (https://www.avast.com/en-gb/index) who offer a paid option if your wallet is feeling heavy, but the free version is perfectly capable and can be made totally silent (it also doesn't bog down your PC, unlike Norton and the other "big names").
