Suffolk Road/Turner Street (Stop SS4) short walk no roads to cross and that was where people were expecting to get off even the driver agreed it would make sense

Yes — all maps, etc (including the one earlier in this thread) say ‘for Sheffield Station’ next to Paternoster Row (SS2). Of course this should be said on the replacement bus itself I would have thought. The problems with going down Hanover Way, or to Brook Hill is that the tram replacement service is supposed to cover all missing stops and not just go directly to/from the station. So it HAS to go through the city centre somewhat.
I am not sure how this route from the Uni to the station does that whereas on the way up it certainly does. Like I said with half a brain tram tickets would be valid on city center buses.
as for Paternoster Row (SS2) I simply do not understand why there and not the stop outside the station .
Is there any focus on the consumer or is this just operationally led?

Isn't Paternoster Row (SS2) the replacement stop for the station, rather than Granville Road?
I do agree a straight route back and forth close to the tram route would have seemed more sensible - I guess the one way on High Street prevents that though, hence the loop.
I don't know about Paternoster Row (SS2) but no one on the bus tried to get off there and the bus proceeded up to the bus station turning right onto Harmer lane and right on to the A61 and the bell was rung by passenger but the bus drove past the station and the station bus stop with several people want to get off there. Even if Paternoster Row (SS2) is meant to be the stop for the station is does not make any sense forcing people to cross a busy road.
I don't know if buses are allowed to turn left from Glossop Rd onto Hanover way but that would be the most logical route to the station but failing that sending it round the Brook Hill roundabout and down would be a far better option - with half a brain tram tickets could be valid in the city center for the period of the works with plenty of buses heading down glossop road into the centre

Mid afternoon Saturday had to wait at university for 20 minutes not 6 as advertised . Not surprisingly another just behind. Having seen the route the bus takes from the university to station not surprised that they have difficulty keeping to time but surely management might devise a way to hold buses to maintain the gap.
I also could not help but wonder why the buses from university to station take such an odd route rather than heading straight to the station and back up . Several people on the bus I was on complained that bus did not stop outside the station but left them with a hike from Granville road.

Lounge418 (both the owner/manager and the customers park on the double-yellows on Thompson Road on a daily basis) and Dominos Pizza (delivery drivers constantly parked fully on the pavement on Cemetery Avenue) are particularly guilty of causing these issues.
I often see business owners /managers/staff like you mentioned elsewhere in the city regularly ignoring parking restrictions outside their establishment and wondered if they have some sort of arrangement with the parking enforcement guys

I don't see the issue with naming 3 dodgy Politicians we've recently had in Yorkshire is a problem?
Parties from both sides have been found lacking in their candidate selection recently, and it's quite right for it to be pointed out.
To add to the list I'd also like to include Azhar Ali, candidate for Rochdale who was dropped at the last minute due to some pretty outrageous comments made about the conflict in Gaza. This was mere months ago, showing that clearly there is more work to be done.
Neither prejudice or bigotry. Perhaps it's you that needs to shove something where the sun does not shine.
Of course it is prejudice and bigotry otherwise you would be listing all the corrupt politically incorrect and criminal white MPs

Edit time ran out, but that last sentence will be the reason for trams only every 10 mins on the part of that route the lines share.
Another reason would be that part of the network is going to be cut off from the depot and they have the issue of trams being cut off for 10 days, they won't want any more trams stuck there than they need. A tram every 10 mins likely be fine, it's half term that week.
From Middlewood it is every 20 minutes.
in the past they have always turned round at shalesmore so why not now
-
reducing the frequency is a sign them saving money at the expense of customer service. In the past the service would terminate at Shalesmore making the reversal simple and the bus connection easier

I believe Sheffield's also got a reputation of retaining a lot of the graduates to live in the city once they're qualified because they like it here.
Indeed it has

why is a mono rail not a viable option?
other countries do it successfully
Not viable for many reasons the trains run from Cleethorpes to Liverpool and mono rail would not be compatible with existing lines. Also the monorail systems world wide are used for urban mass transit metro systems I am not aware of any long distance systems.

I would have thought it would be pretty straight forward after all that is what they do

As far as I am aware the government would not allow any new 3 rail electrification .
anyway electrification on its own will make little difference to journey time the existing stock is capable of 100mph or more

Right so does that mean the if I make 5 trips in a day First bus will get £10

Not been on the tram under new ownership but used it frequently before and I can not remember the last time I had a inspector check my ticket
I am curious to know how they calculate the fare evasion as it is not as simple as it sounds.

I note with interest that Jet2 have just announced a two aircraft base at BOURNEMOUTH airport, starting 1st April 2025, flying to 16 destinations including all four major Canary Islands.
Cant imagine they would want another new base at DSA next year so thats another potential gone. Like I said, its going to end in tears again.
Why not Doncaster is not going to compete with Bournemouth

Just how many platforms would require lengthening for a fast Transpennine service stopping only at the major stations
longer stations allows longer carriages NO allows more carriages
having crossed the London lines south of Stockport the TPE trains takes about 3 minutes longer than the Avanti or Cross country services

You assume that the police actually care? That would mean doing work.
Over the past few years I've submitted so many reports to the police with clear evidence in photos and videos and sod all has been done, the scum are still at it.
The police much prefer to deal with the aftermath than with prevention

For a start, not everyone drives there. And many shopping precincts provide ATMs, Meadowhall is one of them. Cash use is on the increase.
I go to Drakehouse by public transport and I expect to be able to have access to an ATM.
What evidence do you have to say cash use is on the increase and over what period. I now use my debit card in supermarkets like Tesco and Asda even if only spending 20p simply because I have got fed up with them constantly getting rid of all their small coins on the self service tills. I don’t want 2x20p and 2x 5p when a 50p coin will suffice.
