  1. Lol yeah I could maybe sneak in and strip off but at 7 months pregnant I doubt anyone would be interested.....maybe some of the more sympathetic clientèle might slip me a fiver for my troubles...and to take myself off home!!!! no seriously tho I want to know if there are cash machines in there and whether they charge 20% mark up on withdrawals???
  2. Quick question.....is there a cash machine in there? If so what is the fee to use it? What charge would there be on £50 withdrawal?
  3. My engine light has come on today. Probably just an air filter issue or something daft but dealer wants to charge £60 plus just to tell me what the problem is. does anyone have a diagnostic scanner and willing to let me use it? I'll pay but just not stupid dealership prices! Must be in Sheffield, ideally S6 area or close
  4. It's been stored in a flat apparently, for over a year. I'm dubious now because he says he can't remember where he bought it from. Surely everyone would remember where they bought an expensive oven from???!
  5. I'm looking to buy a new double oven. The one I want is £450 in John Lewis and pretty much the same price with all stockists. I've just searched on ebay and someone in Worksop is selling the exact same one for less than half the price claiming it to be brand new, unused just kept in storage as they moved in with their mum (ah bless!) I'm not sure yet how well this has been stored, whether it's a Big Yellow kind of place or in a garage but have asked the seller a hundred questions to get a better idea. What I need to know is whether this is likely to have suffered any potential malfunction for having not been used for a period of time. It's a dual fuel cooker if that makes a difference?
  6. The chimney was not back to back, our chimneys are one the left side and so are all my neighbours
  7. It was a chimney breast I had removed. Some of the bricks were sideways rather than straight as the builder expected. Does that make sense? Anyway rather than taking precautions the builder went hammer and tooth at the chimney and caused damage. Apparently he didn't expect such brick formation as the chimney wasn't back to back and so didn't expect any problems
  8. If you instruct a builder to carry out work on your home and in doing the work a neighbouring property is cosmetically damaged, where does liability for their rectification work lie? With the home owner for instructing the work or with the builder for not taking necessary precautions or carrying out a proper assessment prior to commencing the work?
  9. There's cctv at the snooker club where my car was parked so I expect the police to follow it up. With regards to the question 'in the middle of the night, didn't you see anything' no I didn't otherwise I'd have kicked their skankey little bottom! My 18 month old has just started sleeping thru the night so whereas last week I would likely have been awake and possibly caught them, I didn't see a thing as I was sleeping soundly for just the third time in a year and a half! Also like someone already said there may have been a string of attacks which could be pinned together and maybe someone did see something. Plus I pay my council tax so I'm well within my right to expect further investigation from the boys in blue!
  10. some little bugger has keyed my car overnight outside my house. i've reported the damage to the police but don't expect much from them! my insurance xs is super high and i can do without losing my NCD so i need a good sprayer / touch up job asap it's a rav4, black, with damage all down the passenger side. no dints or bumps just cosmetic damage. little poo heads would have seen the baby seat in the back and the kids toys on the seat and still they chose to damage my car .... if i find them i'll give them a bloody good hiding ... it's unbelievable the super-human strength a 7 month pregnant woman can have lol
  11. i'm in walkley and we're a middle house on a run of 4 terrace. my neighbours all had their roofs done at the same time but the previous owners of our house opted not to get theirs done, even though it was a much needed thing at the time and has deteriorated since! i need to go with the eternit to keep in line with the others otherwise mine would look a little silly and out of place and would ultimately devalue the house .... so i don't have much choice !! forgot to mention in the original post that i also want to install a new velux as all the other houses have velux on both sides but we just have one on the back. do i need to mention this in the building notice or is this exempt as it isn't raised over the specified mm guideline and doesn't create move area by volume .... or should i include this just to be on the safe side? going to submit this today so work can start next week hopefully so any help would be very much appreciated?
  12. thanks for the advice, i think i was trying to make things overly difficult when in fact the wording is pretty straight forward!
  13. i need to submit an application to the council for a new roof but don't know what to put in the 'description of work' box .... i want to remove the original 1900's tiles and replace with eternit tiles and will also ensure insulation meets the current standard but how best do i word this and this and is there anything else i should include in the application??
